I am thinking of booking a trip on the Quinault in early March. Is this a decent time for a chance at pics of a C&R 20+ pounder? Any tips an an agressive guide that is willing to do more than pull plugs? Rates? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!.....DB

I'm a guide on the lower Quinault so I'll try to answer your questions. You can expect to pay $125.00 to 150.00 per person depending on the guide. Some have guided for 30+ years. Others not so long. Most all fish the same way this time of the year. Side drifting bait. Plugs are used in Jan & early feb at 101 because the lake Quinault hatchery fish are stacked up at the 101 bridge. Send me an e-mail to potter@olynet.com and I'll send you a list of guides that I recommend when I'm booked.

DB,

I've fished with Robin Rhoades of the Quinalt Guide Service for the last 4 years now. If you're a serious fisherperson, you know your stuff, and don't need the hand-holding or all day plug sessions, I can't recommend him enough. He loves to boondoggle and covers a *lot* of water in a day until he finds some fish. Like the other guides in this area, he's probably booked for most of March/April. He will at least recommend another guide for you. Contact me if interested, and I'll give you the necessary info...parker@u.washington.edu
