A question for you veteran tidewater fishermen. Are there any tips on either gear or flies that may work for these semi-salt ghosts. Maybe these fish are just spooky and tough to hook up with. I was wondering if they were in some type of transition, as they became acclimated to the fresh water. I don't know.

It took me almost an hour to get one these beauties to peel off from the pod and take a fly. I threw spinners, corkies, yarn, spoons, soft plastic, you name it, and after a couple of hours of trying, I left them alone. Any hints would be appreciated. Looking at those sea lice infested, cotton mouthed missiles, and not hooking them, sent me over the edge. What a sight to see. Thanks

Can knock the snot out of kings using glo-ball techniques...best early in the morning and just at dark. Use a larger glow-in-the-dark corkie, big enough to fully float a 1/0 hook with a few tufts of sand-shrimp soaked yarn on it, with a 14"-18" leader. Still fish it on a smooth flat nearer shore--I get more bites than hookups because of the large corkie but have taken some beauts this way. Have always wondered if it would work for steelies.

Really, though, if it only took you an hour to get one, what, exactly, is your complaint? lol

If fishes were wishes we'd all have ponds...
