I would imagine the consenus with any shot animal to give time to die/bleed out. I'm sure it takes a bit longer for a gut shot by arrow to die if the arrow is still in the body.

Arrow was a complete pass through. A 450 grain arrow shot at 70lb draw weight goes through a gut like a hot knife through butter I found out.
