I was talking with one of my freinds and I showed him the post about the guns on the Hoh that is on this board. Lots of talk about being low holed. So when exactly do you concider yourself low holed. It happens sometimes to me and while I don't get reel uptight about it it pisses me off. Another thing that I see is guys who get to the top of a run, drop the anchor, and just sit there all day with plugs out. So you go around them and pull in and work on down the run. Then they get all pissed thinking that you just low holed them ( even though they are not going anywhere ) As if they own the entire run for the whole day just because they are sitting at the top of it. What do you guys think??? I mean I don't care if people sit in one spot all day, but when they get attitude because you pass them.. then boo hoo hoo.

I would say that you are right! There is a right way and a wrong way to dift on by someone in another drift boat. Do not drift over the hole that the other boat is fishing in. That right there is a no no, but in this case you don't have a choice when they are anchored at the top of the hole. The river is only so big in some spots. If he thinks that is bad, he needs to take a trip to the cowlitz.

Oh yea, I give them at least 100 yards and keep moving on down. I guess that cowlitz is a zoo. Sleds??? bunches of them??? So how about this. We fish the salmon river over here and its not real crowded. You will be having a real nice day.. really mellow and quiet. Then you hear it coming.. its about 20-24 feet long with a 400 hp 454 chevy in it and just hauling ass ( they have to or they will hit bottom) Thats right baby its a jetboat... 45,000 dollars worth of smokin thunder..This ain't no sled like you see out by the coast.. these things are like a battle ships. I know they have a right to the river like anybody else.. in fact, I don't know why I brought it up.. but it does suck.

It's aways been my way that if some one is in a hole ,just sitting or otherwise, that's there hole. I just move to the next one. In a boat there's usually lots more holes down river.

Always pass behind whenever possible and that goes with bank guys as well. I try to get as close to them as I can.

I just try to do unto others as I would have them do unto me.

The guns issue is just plain nutty there is just no reason ever to pull or have a gun on the river. Remember it's just recreation not a war. There just fish there will be another one next time. Just plain nuts
