An Oklahoma man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his stepfather was killed in a fight involving blows to the head and an “atomic wedgie”.

Brad Davis, 33, was detained on Tuesday following an incident on 21 December in which his stepfather Denver Lee St Clair was found dead.

According to the Oklahoma state medical examiner’s office, St Clair’s death was put down to blunt force trauma and asphyxiation – with his own underwear.

The Oklahoman writes: “When authorities questioned Davis, he said St Clair asked him to come over for drinks. The men began arguing and Davis told officers that St Clair ‘came at him’ and they began exchanging blows.

“Davis told investigators that he hit St Clair’s head, causing him to lose consciousness.

“Then, Davis said, he grabbed his stepfather’s underwear and gave him an ‘atomic wedgie’ by pulling the underwear over his stepfather’s head.”

According to the Dictionary of American Slang and Colloquial Expressions, the definition of a wedgie is:

“An instance of pulling someone’s underpants up very tightly – from the rear – so that the cloth is pulled between the victim’s buttocks.”
Urban Dictionary explains an atomic wedgie is when the underwear is lifted up and over the victim’s head.

“I’d never seen this before, but when we first looked at our victim seeing the waistband of his underwear was around his neck,” Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said.

He told KJRH-TV: “We continued our investigation and uncovered evidence that led us to believe this was more than just a fight.”

The row is reported to have started after St Clair allegedly insulted former Marine Davis’s mother, WOW KTV writes.
