Bought a SeaEagle blow up 13' Pro Series Kayak, rated for class lV rapids. Looking forward to taking wife on easy scenic Float with in 50 miles from Federal Way area when weather allows. I have floated all Peninsula Rivers in friends drift boats but its a drive. looking at Skagit or other scenic rivers. Not fishing just entertaining. Put ins and take outs. Thanks for any response.
Does Amotos River guide list show some options?

Snoqualmie between carnation and duvall...its about 3 miles of moving water and 8 miles of swamp.

Should take all day and be very easy.

I'd stay away from the Skagit. Yes it's an easy float but that is one very big and very fast river. Pretty hard to get in trouble but if you do it's also pretty hard not to get killed.

Snoqualmie is a good choice but beware the July bikini hatch.

I'd check out the Nisqually. Relatively close and this time of year, you'd have the whole thing to yourself.

Nisqually is an easy float, put in at public launch at Power Plant or Tank Crossing (need Fort Lewis Access Pass) and float down to Handy Cap Access. Even though there is a nice put-in at McKenna, you won't find that stretch first timer friendly. Good luck

You could try the snoqualmie from mouth of raging to Niel rd takeout , about 4 miles , fairly slow a couple of braids but is easily managed .

The McKenna to power plant float on the Nisqually is a fun float. Do that as soon as you get comfortable with the boat. That was my second float in my pontoon boat, and I had no problems and lots of fun. Some nice waves in the rapids, and several neat boulder gardens. It's about 9 miles, I think, and it only takes about 3-4 hours. It may have changed since I did it, but I recall the only significant hazards being a big boulder drop on river right in the first big rapid and a small sweeper (that's probably washed out by now) on river left in the second one.

For an easy float on a local river with some awful scenery, you could kayak the Sammamish Slough. http://traveltips.usatoday.com/kayak-sammamish-slough-37564.html

Green river is a good choice. Launch at Flaming Geyser or Fuller bridge. Easy float with limited experience . Nice scenery. I have not been on the river for a while due to health problems so input from others would be a help. After gaining experience the upper river is a real fun float with some class 4-5 rapids.. Most of a day from Palmer to hwy 18. with stop for lunch and fishing on the way. The upper river has very little access so once you start you are committed to the river, Have fun

I thought the green would be a littered mess and having not floated it when me and my friends talked about it i was excited so we did it earlier in January and i was quite surprised. pretty easy float, very pretty!
