Anyone using this rod?

I'm in the market to build a new spinner rod for Fall fishing and I really liked the feel of this one at Sportco yesterday. A little shorter than what I usually use for pitching spinners but what got my attention was the action. Being a magnum taper (10-20lb) it would also be a great plug rod for silvers……kill 2 birds with one stone.

The blank is priced right.

Opinions?

favorite spoon rod ever. runs plugs well, too. very sensitive tip for a 10-20 rod, plenty of backbone. i really like mine.

I've snapped 3 of those in my life time on either a snag or a hook set. I have a fishin buddy who has gone thru a few himself. IMO it's the worst rod lamiglas has ever made......Looks good, feels good but there's sumtin bout that set up that doesn't last long.Good luck,

SZ

Eric, get it.

Got one & love it, one of my most used sticks & I have em all. Throw hardware, wiggle warts & 1/2 jigs for silvers & kangs, drift fish it for chum, even have run it off downriggers.

Got mine used for under $100 off some cracker, had to sand the cork to get the egg dye off & re-wrap one guide.

Don't think I can bust this particular rod, had max strain on it late last summer w/ a huge upriver dark king. Epic take off the rigger almost busted the rod holder (had my drag cranked)

That thing from the black lagoon chewed thru my 20 lb. leader about 10 min later.

i don't have that particular model, but i own its cousin in the XMG 50 flavor. one of my favorite all-purpose rods. it's light in the hand but has a ton of power.

I've used this rod for many years on OP nates and salmon. Lots of power but still has plenty of feel with the magnum taper. I've primarily used it for drift fishing with some spinner and spoon pitching mixed in.

Thanks for the offer SZ but I like to wrap my own…..not real fond of the stock real seats and guides.

Not no more! A blown engine on my F-250 @ 105,000 miles and a $1,600 repair bill on my F-150 due to a design flaw in the 4WD disengagement apparatus that subsequently ate my hubs (don't get me started….bitter topic!!) convinced me my Ford days are over!

Glad you brought this up. It will weigh heavily in my decision whether to go forward with this blank. laugh

It's a good rod. Used to use mine for tossing spoons and spinners to Yakima River Spring Chinook/float fishing, drift fishing, etc.

Interesting. I'll have to write that one down and use it at work.
