If approved, the regulation allowing only resident boats would minimize the introduction of invasive species through transference on craft used in other bodies of water.

"Resident boats" means resident of where?

Looks to me that if you don't have a place on the lake you still can't use the lake!

Isn't the upper Quinault open to anyone? Wouldn't invasive species flow down stream?

I will be there opening day if the lake opens up. My smokercraft has been sitting on the bank up there since it closed at a buddies place.

We used to have a place up there until 3 years ago when a death in the family forced sale. Place was in the family on the north shore for nearly 40 years. Our smokercraft has never left the lake in that time and now sits at a friend of our families cabin. They need better clarity on a "resident boat", but hopefully that's enough for them.

Tribe decides to reopen Lake Quinault to nontribal use
Posted by Cathy McLain
TAHOLAH, Grays Harbor County (AP) — The president of the Quinault Indian Nation says the tribe has decided to reopen Lake Quinault to nontribal use under new regulations.

The tribe closed the Olympic Peninsula lake last June, citing pollution problems, unsafe activities, invasive species issues and diminished fish runs.

President Fawn Sharp said Tuesday the tribe will try to both safeguard the lake and share it with others.

The tribe’s business committee on Monday passed fishing, boating and use regulations for 2014.

The lake is located within the Quinault Indian Reservation and is owned up to the high water mark by the tribe.

There has been continued use of lake Quinault even during the "closure". Have you ever known a non tribal member to be successfully prosecuted by the Quinaults?
