Salmon fishing should be excellent this summer

The sport salmon seasons were decided Wednesday, and opportunities will be very similar to last year along with some positive changes for coastal fisheries.

One of the biggest changes from last summer is the reduced daily hatchery chinook catch limit in central and northern Puget Sound (Marine Catch Areas 9 and 10).

Salmon fishing in Areas 9 and 10 will be open from July 16 through Aug. 31, but could close sooner if the catch quotas are achieved. The limit will be one hatchery chinook daily, compared to the two hatchery fish limit in past seasons.

Other noticeable changes are a shorter nonselective coho season at Sekiu (Area 5) from Sept. 19-25, which is nine days shorter than last year. The Oct. 1-31 will also shift to a hatchery coho and chinook only season; and from Feb. 16- .... http://seattletimes.com/html/outdoors/2023341376_fishingreport10xml.html

Everyone needs a subsciption to read the seattle times online now. Eff them, dont link stories to the times anymore. Who really wants to be fed propaganda favoring the effed up world Sewant, Adam Klein and Ed Murray want to rule over.

Reduction from 2 HATCHERY Chinook.......WTF?
They are HATCHERY FISH !!
You want 'em dead, don't you?

I know some don't care the cost per pound, but I do. And I usually fish by myself...I like the options that way. Now I get to spend more money on fuel, more on license/discovery pass, gear.....and get one fkn HATCHERY "king"......real nice.

So when you catch a finned Coho in area 9 and the checker finds a tag in his head..... what’s wild mean anyway? They ran out of money for the clipping machine or the cookie cutter fish are the only ones left to manage?

Remember they are counting “interactions”, not fish in the boat. Interaction numbers come from checkers who get their numbers from a bunch of liars.

I heard it was partly because the muckleshoot was fishing for nooks. Mainly to offset there impacts. Not sure if that's correct.
