Not that I mind (I like low water fishing), but why is it that the water is SO low right now? Most west side rivers are flowing about half their normal volumes for this time of year.

We had a fairly wet spring, the snowpacks are slightly above normal, and temperatures have been normal, so what gives? Will we not see a runoff this year?

I'm not so sure about the snow pack on the north Olympics. Hurricane Ridge at the station is down to 10". The rain has also been lacking for the past three weeks out here. Combine those two factors with cooler weather and here we are.

Reasonable points from both you guys. I realize it's been dry the past few weeks and that temps have been slightly below normal on average. I just thought it was strange to see things at summer low this early, and I also thought it was odd that there haven't been significant rises on the hot days we have had so far.

I'm probably thinking too much about it, and we're all being reminded that USGS median flows are based on a mix of years where the flows are well above average (like last year) and below average (like this year so far). Maybe "normal" is simply an average of the extremes.

Ultimately, this thread means I'm bored and the fishing is slow....
