"Thanks" to everyone from this BB that attended the last seminar on salmon recovery. There was an excellent turnout.
There will be another seminar on Wednesday, May 17 from 4-6 pm, titled "Future of Marine Sportfishing." The seminars are held at the NW Fisheries Science Center Auditorium, 2725 Montlake Blvd E, E Hamlin Rd entrance, Seattle. So far Larry Carpenter and Gary Krein have agreed to speak. As of this moment we're working on two or three more players to give presentations and act as panelists. I'll keep you all updated, but just wanted to give everyone a head's up. Show up, educate yourself and support our rec fisheries.
Peace Out....

The seminar now includes Pat Patillo who has agreed to discuss the future of marine sportfishing from the management perspective.
The seminar now includes:
Larry Carpenter (industry) Gary Krein (charterboats and guides) Pat Patillo (management)
Currently we are working on adding another speaker to speak on behalf of the individual recreational fishers to round out this forum. As before, email me if you want more information.

I am pleased to announce that our very own Jim Bain, from the Washington Anglers Alliance, will be the fourth speaker at the seminar. I know that many of us from the northend and Seattle have been wanting to hear Jim's message, but have been unable to make that drive all the way down to Lacey. Here's your chance to educate yourself about some of the trends and issues facing Washington State's recreational fishers and interact with the panelists in a neutral forum. Email me if you have any questions or pick up a flyer at Outdoor Emporium.

The lineup for the Wednesday, May 17 seminar titled "Future of Marine Sportfishing" has not changed. The speakers are (in order of appearance):
Pat Patillo, WDFW Larry Carpenter, NW Marine Trade Assoc, WA St Sportfish Advisory Bd, Pacific Salmon Comm Gary Krein, Guide, Charter Boat Assoc of Puget Sound Jim Bain, Guide, WA Anglers Alliance
Again, the seminar is from 4-6 at the NW Fisheries Science Center. Among the issues that are sure to be addressed are the economic impacts of sportfishing, marine C&R opportunities, future of sportfishing in the political realm, fin clipping chinook, and many others. This is a great opportunity to educate yourself on these issues, or raise your own concerns over the future of sportfishing in Wa State during the Q&A phase. This seminar is free and open to all members of the community.
