Unfortunately only second hand knowledge this year but from what I heard it didn't sound like I missed much.

Uh oh. No reports spells one of two things: 1) no one catching 2) Catching is so good people have become zipper lipped.

Hope things get a little better by Friday!

A few fish were caught in the usual MA 10 areas with a better bite being on the West side than the East side.

When we pulled into Shilshole at noon, the fish checker had checked 5 fish for 35 boats. One boat that just pulled in had 3 of those.

We released a 10-12 ruddered king. Hate it when they have their rudder still attached.

Secret lure is the one Captain Q has told you ALL about a million and half times. Look it up. It just works...time and time and time and time again....for kings and coho.

Oh well, off to try again tomorrow and Friday.

But yes, I've seen better openers down this way. I guess that is good as it keeps the quota down and the season longer.

Kinda disappointed to see people and charters whacking fish in the 5lb. range. Don't they realize we are under a quota? Oh wait, money talks I guess. Fortunately, all the fish checked at Shilshole were of good size - at least that's what Courtney told me.

When I hit Everett at 1, the checker had 34 fish for 103 boats. I got mine, little 12 lbr but sounds like a lot of skunks!

I think we are dealing with the former here.

IrishRogue and I spent the day with two other buddies in south and central MA 9, where it was very slow for us. We managed to return to the dock with one 13# buck that disappeared in a flash off several BBQ's last night, leaving me wanting more.

The lock counts for Chinook are dismal right now, there are few to no fish going through at all. Overall a very slow morning opener? Thats the concesus I believe...however-
In my network of buddies there were a few caught here and there in the AM on the opener, but I'll disclose that some people did really really good, last night. Maybe this is one of those times where due to tides or whatever...there is a better evening bite right now?

We saw very few nets flying at Midchannel. We managed to scratch out a decent king, but took felt lucky to do so. Tonight it to will disappear on four different BBQs.

I know of 3 to 13 boats yesterday am, one of those boats took 2 of the 3. Otherwise, I know of a nate released last night, so 1 for 7 boats. Went out before a conf call this am, 0 for 7 boats but I was off the water at 7:15.

I have been fishing Salisbury and PNP. At Salisbury I have hooked a couple Resdiential Coho and at PNP I have seen a 10# buck steelhead caught and a smaller coho. Not much happening right now. Tons of bait jumping everywhere just nothing working them to prove a decent amount of fish exist.

Nothing for us at Mid-Channel or PnP yesterday.

Ran to A10 this morning for a resident coho and a mid teens King with too many fins.

Back at it tomorrow.

Roughly 200 boats at mid-channel Wednesday. Crazy. About half that many Thursday. Catch is pretty slim talking to the guys here at Fort Casey.

Well hell, I feel pretty good about our 1- 10# Hatch we got now. . . Was good to be out on the water finally . .. good to see some familiar faces as well. Saw 4 other fish caught between PNP and the Green Can on W Poss.

Report I got was that it was slow at Mid Channel, though a few scratched out a limit or two.

My uncle reported this morning from skunk bay...nothing and very little bait. His friend had one at the rock near mid-channel. I will be out at pilot and skunk bay tomorrow.

I personally have not touched a fish in 3 days and at least 18 hours on the water. We chased reports today and paid the price - of no fish. I knew better. There were fish caught a lot closer to home for us. The reports from the Shilshole fish checker's were poor. Everyone must be lying.

No touches on the opener for us. We hit the afternoon tide change yesterday, fished Jeff Head. Got one resident coho and one take down with no hook up. We did see a couple of boats with fish on but not sure what they were. There are fish there but weeds, trash, slime, and jelly fish all over make trolling difficult. Mooching or jigging on the tide changes might be more productive. The Shilshole check at 8:00 PM was something like 10 salmon (all species) for 67 boats. We are waiting until Monday, hoping the big tides will clean things out and bring a few more fish in.

if you go, best get out early. check the forecast: 5kt early 13-18 SSE later. wind waves to 3'. sounds like the shrimp opener. lack of fish and time combined with the weather will keep me off the water tomorrow. off to baker lake monday, hope the numbers keep coming up!

Broke the streak of no Salmon last night. Got one 4 and another 10. Inches wink . Going to change it up and go camping. Going to bring the boat just in case and head for Port Townsend. Long range planning isn't always the best thing.

Fished the opener, but haven't been out since. East 10 in the usual spots. We only had until 9:30 am to fish, so we had to stay close. Nothing doin'...dead dead. Tons and tons of bait at the surface just milling about left us wishing we had a scoop net on board. After hearing about the evening bite, wish we would've had the whole day to work with. Tight lines,

Fished PNP this morning got there at 0430. Tide was low and about 0600 shifted. Grass was a hassle most of the day. 2 guys standing either sids of me hooked up with 2 rezzies both about 5lbs. I caught 2 1 maybe 2lbers and let them go free. Hooked up 3 seperate times with bigger fish that pulled the hook(rookie). Tons of bait and even got balled up a couple of times and the seagulls were going crazy.. most action happened between 7 and 9.. saw several others land fish all between the 2-5lb range.

Still slow but once they get here its gonna be a feeding frenzy!

3 passes from Pilot Pt to PnP. 3 passes Pnp to Hansville. 3 passes Hansville to Foulweather. 3 passes Oil Docks past Richmond Beach.

Zero hits, zero takedowns, one dogfish and one flounder.

Hope we get some real rain this next week and things pick up a bit, because it is damn tough out there right now. The conditions absolutely sucked on Thurs and Fri...south wind, lots of tidal exchange, and lots of boat wakes made it very unpleasant fishing.

went to Kingston Wednesday AM, launched at 7AM, brother Scott and son Kaden showed up and we headed out to fish apple Tree cove. My family has lived on water there since the 60's ( I was in service when they moved)and this was the first time I had fished in front of the ferry so I was not tuned in. Only caught fish in AM Tidal swing. Wednesday caught one 12 lb Native at 85' in 120' of water and lots of flounder, brother caught DF, his son had no Lic. Dropped them off cuz brother had business to run and picked up other brother and his buddy and fished all afternoon with 2 grabs that brought the purple haze to the flasher but did not stick.
Thursday got somewhat dialed in, caught 14lbr (146' on DR in 260')and brother caught 8lbr 92' dn in 140' of water.
Friday fished at 8AM in front of ferry and south in 260' +- 20' and 10AM hooked and landed 16lbr dn 146' then 15 min later another 20lb native, released and 20 min later brother Scott
got 12lbr.

Saturday was slow for me. Lots of crap in the water, skunk bay was the only place to troll without clearing your line constantly. Two take downs and that was it.

Nice fish Jermz!

I was in that neighborhood for the past few days. We struggled to get three fish in 4 days. Buddy boat did better with a decent fish Saturday and a 19 on Monday evening. It seemed that we did best very late in the day. We saw few nets the entire time.

Fort Flagler State Park is very nice. I usually hate State Parks and was really pleased. The launch is a bit difficult and moorage is very limited and only available for 3 nights in a row. There are other options nearby.

Back at Edmonds. I will not give up! wink

I was out there last night. I was a bit surprised by the North Wind. Apple Cove Point was covered with grass and garbage. We made a pass down the President Point side without a sniff.

Back at it for this evenings high.

Fishing out of Port Townsend, Mooching off Point Wilson on 7/20/14 at sun up I started counting how many hook ups I saw . I stopped counting at 20 I saw numerous good sized Kings boated and a couple of unfortunate fellas that fought a fish for 25 minutes but apparently had no idea how to net one soon as I saw the net man hanging half way out of the boat fully extended poking a fish that was 10' out and not ready for the net well it got away which was disappointing because I really wanted to see its size. I kid you not it fought for all of 25 minutes. Anyway I finally boated a 12 pounder 2 hours after the bite. I figured I saw about 30 fish taken in 4 hours. Funny thing was once I hit the dock all I heard was how slow it was at Mid Channel for the downrigger show. I would Mooch the point early and troll the channel after the bite.

Nice first post Sean!
Tony and I got one last night. Nice to get one after a bit of a drought. We trolled from near PnP toward Pilot. Then ran up to Norwegian and hung around the point for awhile. There were few boats around and we didn't see any action. We headed out to the very lonely Bar and finally hooked up with one about 9#. Got 8 crab as well!

We had a good morning today in MA 10. Bennett and I caught our kings by 6:45 (and lost another), then picked up our two pots and were back at the dock by 7:15. I was going to head east for sockeye tomorrow, but am now rethinking those plans!

My neighbor got a #13 on the bar last night with Tony's Ace Hi haha!

I fished the end of the low this morning for zip. Moved over to Pilot Point and got a little Coho sending it down the first time.

Side note- what mooching reel is that and how do you like it? Deciding between Shimano and daiwa.

Nice going boys!

Gutz, we're you on possesion bar again? I assume you were fishing deep water. I've been hearing the hook ups have been happening in deeper water.

I'll be out there tomorrow morning with everyone.

OMG! Bennett! That thing is huge!

I have both the Shimano and the Diawa. I have owned that Shimano for 20 years, so I would have to say it is my favorite. They both perform about the same. If I really had to make a choice though, I would go with Ryley's anodized blue Islander wink

Friday I was with the heard at PnP - Pilot. I have got most of my fish this summer at either 123' or 155'. I don't remember how deep that one was but I was putting on suntan lotion when it hit. I wonder how I am going to get that crap off the inside of the roof wink

I'd rather not take out a second mortgage to buy a reel nice as they are.

My biggest Puget Sound King since it re-opened for summer King retention however many years ago its been now.

Nice bite at PnP this morning.

Usually resident coho for a bit more CJ. Ocean fish will start trickling in over the next month.

Lost a real nice one off the east side of possesion this morning at 8. It would have been my biggest salmon ever. The thing hit a purple haze hoochie 42" behind a red glow flasher.

About the mooching reels, I own diawa m-ones and have been really happy with them. There is talk of their drag being crappy but I haven't seen it yet. Besides, there are after market companies that make drag washers which can basically upgrade the reel for under $10 if you feel the drag needs improving. Smoothdrag being one that comes to mind. They're fun reels! Except when the fish comes at you (like what happened to me today). You better have forearms like Mark McGuire. Gymspiration for tomorrow.

Not sure what is considered a "sizeable" coho this time of year. As supcop said this time of year the coho most commonly encounter are those resident fish - 2 to 4 #s.

That said while mooching in MA 10 last week I caught one unmarked coho that was pushing 6#s and lost a similar sized fish to a seal. Since I released the fish I can not say whether it was a large resident coho or part of the first wave of ocean fish. That said most years don't really expect to see many such fish for another 3 weeks or so.

Where are we on the Quota?
Are we going to be fishing until the 15th?
I think someone made a reference as to how the State calculates catch. Can someone provide that again?

I feel like last year I was catching fresh ocean fish already.. maybe I was wrong tho. Each time I catch a fish I journal it for future reference.. either way waiting for that beach fishing to kick up!

John Martinis posted on his Facebook page that A9 was at 50% quota as of July 30.

I'm guessing A9 / A10 will stay open up to the 15th closure and that our full quota will not be reached. Of course, all of those "extra" fish will show on the 16th or shortly thereafter and bump the tribal share past its current 70% take. Our season could be extended until our quota is met, but that would be too generous and asking for too much. The WDFW certainly doesn't have an issue closing it early when quota met. But to do the opposite....."Oh no, that would be impossible!”.

The bait's been deep this year. Fish deep with 5 - 7" plugs. East A10 has finally started to pump out some fish this past weekend.

CJ - It's still 2 - 3 weeks early for sizable Ocean Ho's. Give it some time.

Oooh. Plugs? Did someone say plugs? I'm glad I got my order in from Tomic last week! But I had no takers the other day on the couple I tried. I'm going to give it another go this weekend.

Correct me if I'm wrong but are you supposed to troll plugs a bit faster than flasher gear? I mean, based on my downrigger cable I was trolling at a good pace, but I dont really know if I'm achieving the correct action on the plug.

Are there any seasoned pluggers out there who can chime in or PM me!?!?! Thanks fellas!

I troll plugs and flasher gear together all the time.

But then, I troll faster than most. I rarely troll less than 3 mph and am usually running about 3.5

Fished 7/31-8/2

I broke away from bass fishing this summer to do some Chinook fishing in area 9 with my bass partner and also salmon fisherman Chris Ferry from Limit Out Marine and Tackle.

7/31; 1st fish not even 10 minutes into the day and 2nd at 7:58am and on our way home.
8/1; Similar to 7/31. 2 fish and done by 8:10am. Also pulled our crab pots and had over 20 keepers, we left some to pull for the next day and kept our 10.
8/2; Got me a solid keeper at 4:45am! I proposed to my girl friend of 8 years and she said yes. Then went fishing where our crew of 5+1 kid, went 3/4 on the morning flood and then got our 30 crab.

All but 1 of our fish came on flasher and a spoon tailwagger and one on a 4" tomic plug. We had to maintain a tight course with the bottom and the downrigger, constantly making sure it was very close. No giant fish but a few pushing the upper teens. I probably don't need to mention where we were other than follow the other 100-200+ boats and we were right in the middle doing our damage!

Day 1; 7/31

Day 2

+1

Tan - put the flasher on the rigger cable above your ball or just run your plugs without (flashers aren't needed...at all). Troll about the same speed you normally do or roughly 3 knots. Also test your plug at the surface along the boat at the speed you like. You'll know if its moving right. Keep it on the bottom as Berto stated (work your rigger depth constantly). Baits all out in 200' + pinned to the floor. Good luck,

Thursday 4 for 4 w a double header.
Friday 3 for 4 one wild released.
Sunday 4 for 4 all keepers.

Biggest was 19, several small 5 lb "blackmouth" in the mix.

The fish finally showed up, and so did the fleet. It was a fvcking ZOO on Sunday. Holy hell.

Saturday was a zoo as well, lost a nice one to a blue yacht.

I was able to get my friend his first salmon.

There was bait everywhere, and this greedy guy already had a couple in his mouth

Thanks for the info NickD.

I was watching my plugs on the side of the boat for a little bit but I dont know if it was wiggling like it should. I know they're supposed to wiggle then dart around or something along those lines. But maybe I have that wrong. I put the plug out about 50-75 feet off the clip so I think I have that part right. I also tie my line as high up on the tow bar as I can. The plug I ran with the tow bar removed was acting the same as the one with the tow bar intact. And all the plugs I ran were 4", 4" tubby and 5".

Whatever the case, I'm going to give them their due time in the water. I know I'll accidentally hook one on a plug one of these days.

The plugs should run side to side with a big dart every few seconds. 50 - 75 feet is WAY back there. You'll get wrapped lines with two rods working at that distance. That's also a lot farther from your ball so the plug will ride higher in the water column and not at the depth you think yer' fishing. I'd keep em' in a bit closer (15 - 30 feet). Also, pull the tow bar out of your Tomics and turn it em' a 'slip' plug. Feed your line through the hole, add a small single bead to protect the knot and then a 6 ball chain to your standard stainless hook. If you are getting short strikers, you can add a small dental rubber band in the last slot between the 5 and 6th ball in your chain near your hook. This "holds" the hook up tight to the body resulting in more hookups. However, when doing this you have to continually check the chain and hook placement for proper running. Grass and jellies can throw it off. Do this for direct contact with your fish. The slip plug will float up your line and offer zero resistance for a better fight. If you get cut off, it'll also separate from the hook and float up to the surface for a recovery.

I've fished with guides in Canada that use Tomics and they were all pin pullers. But the folks that make the plugs.. on their website they do not recommend that you do that. I have some that I've pulled and some that I still use the towbar, I don't know if it makes all that big a dif. I usually put them back about 30 feet behind the cable.

The other big problem with running your gear back 100 feet is getting tangled up with other boats in the fleet.

I prefer to run all my stuff in pretty tight that way when Joe Blow with a 30 foot Grady doesn't pay attention and runs over my stern I don't lose half my chit.

Boat clean. check
Leaders tied. check
Bait cut. check
Make ice. check
Lunch packed. check

Chores are done! I'm going fishing!

Plucked two from out of the FOG this AM.

Sorry about cutting off your new flasher and spoon. I had no idea I caught your gear. I never saw you. You never yelled. I will give it back if you can identify it.

Wow! The flood tide (+12-13') looked and sounded like the Columbia. Watch it!

The Navy keeps me from fishing everyday like I want to. So any chance that there maybe for me to catch fish I dont want to waste it brotha smile

We've been spoiled the last few years with some excellent silver fishing. Every year is different.
Last July was good. This year, not so much.
They'll show up on their own timeframe, not ours.

We (Tony and I) got a fair Coho this morning on the Bar.
We moved over to the heard about an 1 before the change. Tony hooked up on a Native. Here is video proof. Beware the minor incidental fbomb or 3.

http://vid1179.photobucket.com/albums/x390/GutZ211/Fishing%202014/9August005_zps6bf36f5e.mp4

A bit later we got a twin with no fin, so not a bad day.
PS I hate the super moon. Big tides. Tough to persied's, although I did spot one early this AM .

Here is a shot of the Sunrise. Called a Sun Pillar I believe.

Decent size for a rezzie. I like the same fly but I put 2-3 peacock herls over the chartreuse and sometimes using only a very few strands of each color buck tail but one flat wing of each color. Do you use some pink or silver flash? I like the pearl flat body braid too, sometimes pink, chartreuse, or silver braid. Always a red hot-spot.

Thanks.

Hit it today kind of not expecting much. 13 foot tide swing and a wind forecast of 20kts with a mid morning High tide. Couldn't have been more wrong. Had 6 fish to hand, lost 2 others, released 2 high finners back to the deep.

What a day! Over at PnP w the masses. Didn't see many nets flying?

Fished it Sunday and saw one net out. The big excitement was the intellectually challenged skipper who drove his 35+ foot (?) sailboat under power through the middle of the pack of boats hanging right on PNP.

Let's say there were a lot of unkind words directed his way as folks maneuvered to avoid his Eminence.

Sorry, I didn't think anybody else heard me. grin

Actually, there were a couple boats did the same thing but the white one with an aluminum fishing boat in tow was the worst. If there's a just creator, the skipper will have certain tender parts become inflamed and fall off.

I guess if you have it on autopilot you don't have to change course just because fisherman are in your way. PnP is on a strait line to everywhere. I love the ones that wave at you as they go by. I usually wave back with bird in one hand and wristrocket in the other. They probably just wonder why.

Well it was a great season and tonight we closed it with a bang. Fished the 3pm tide change at Pilot and had 3 takers including one dandy probably 19. Too bad it's over but it was a great ride! Side note we marked a bunch of coho and saw a few schools of jumpers at the surface. Good sign of things to come?

Nice fish, but I would like to see the season extended for Chinook if the quota allows.

How close did we come to the Area 9 quota of 3218 Chinook?

If quota’s can close down fisheries then quota’s should extend fisheries if not met.

IMO, the tribes are all in for conservation as long as it comes out of the sport fisher part of the ledger. Otherwise, the tribes say screw conservation. Polar opposite from the image that the tribes are trying to project of themselves for years.

Preliminary Area 9 take is 2879 through August 15 --almost 89.5% of the quota leaving 339 chinook.

Ryan L. PS salmon manager is missing in action this week. What a time for a vacation when we need him the most to help try to extend the season.

WDFW is taking input on area 9: Yea or Nay to extend season or anything else on your mind.

Anyone been out fishing for coho in the days since the closure? I was thinking of taking my nephew out on Saturday to try and hook him into fishing but would really love to make his first time fishing on my boat a winning trip.

Heard on the outdoor line that Possession might be the best bet. Any thoughts? I was thinking of trying in front of Edmonds but I personally think it might be a little early for that.

Been fishing Salisbury with success... the evening bite it good on big tide changes. Morning is where its at and the beach is easy to fish from. Its still hit or miss but lots of bait being balled upand fish moving just too far out. When the fish are there tho.. doesn't matter what you throw out there.

Dropped the gear at the Shipwreck at 6:30, and quit at 11. 15-20 other boats trolling around, nothing going on. Saw one Silver taken. Looked like a larger ocean Coho not a small resident. Last few years there has been a big bull Sea lion hanging around Picnic Pt. Took one of my fish last year. He is there, saw him splash around twice like he had a fish. Also a fairly large group of Porpoise in the same area.

Everything is ready, all we need is some nice hard rain for a few days.

Thursday - Scatchet Head, 2 rods - Zero
Friday - President Point/Jeff Head, Just me -one hit
Saturday - Pilot/PnP , 3 rods - Zero, nothing, nada

Heard tell of a fish here and there.

Back at it tomorrow. Just going to follow the tide out from Edmonds. Good luck to us!

I would root for some rain, but I have a lot of green tomato's wink

Did some fishing this morning in MA9 from shore and limited out with a 6 and 7lbr casting herring with a home brine. Good morning and lots of fish caught all around me as well. Hooked the first fish at 0550 and the 2nd at 0830.

After two unsuccessful outings with my brother before the Chinook closure in MA9 he called today that he had been out and hooked a (wait for it) Chinook that he had to release.

5# is on the high side for most of the coho we have seen though we did get one of 7.5 # a week ago Monday. Fishing area 10 for coho, Jeff Head has been hot for kings, we have hooked and released more in the last 10 days than during the entire time it was open. I know several regulars that have had the same experience.

Funny how a lot of those 5 lbers magically become 8 lbers, especially on the beaches.

I have been doing really well from the beach.. been catching mostly 5-6lbrs but on Monday morning I picked up an 8lb hen. All Coho.. my catch card is filling up quick. I discovered a new way to brine and mooch and it has been killing the Coho from the beach.

Fished by myself today, got two by the Shipwreck in fairly close 150-200 FOW. The rain definitely brought the fish in, they are there now.

I noticed I havent seen too many reports lately so I figured I would give one:

Started fishing Possession Point at 0615 today really slow and saw no nets out for awhile. 0817 we hit our first fish at 55 ft on the downrigger and landed her. A bright 5lb Silver. We continued to fish PP and trolled near flocks of birds and nothing. Made a move to the oil docks near Edmunds Ferry for the tide change. As soon as it went low at 1145 we hit 3 more fish 2 buck and a hen 5, 6 and a hook nosed 8lb. Fished for 2 more hours and it went quiet a few bumps on my secret brined herring trolled shallow with 4oz lead. Turned out to be a reall nice day and 4 bright chrome fish to the boat.

Good luck out there guys and tight lines.

Solid work cj. We had a bad case of the no-land-ums today. Started off 1 for 9 with the fish to hand being a nook. Finally popped 2 coho around noon as we were about to call it. What boat were you in cj?

Thanks! And befriended a great guy, Bob Dean, from the Armed Forces Derby put on by North Kitsap Fishing Club (I think is what its called) out of Hansville. He took us out and got us one some fish it was awesome.

The fish are few and far between. You really gotta look for them. Im primarily a beach fisherman and I am in the high 20s on caught from the beach. But lately it was slowed down again. Maybe the rain will help we shall see.

RnG - the rain will bring some in, but it doesn't look too promising for a solid teener year. frown

Yes it awesome to have some contacts and new fishing buddies.

But your right the big fish aren't around like they should be. I have seen some big fish landed in the 12 range and even saw a legit 14-15 hooked but lost, just too much for the guy. Beach fishing has been good if ya know what your doing. I have a few 8-9 lbs on my belt but nothing bigger than that.

There seem to be a lot of fish around. Best bite is before the sun comes up. Then , eventually , anything you put down there will get hit.

Just before Sunrise Tuesday. Yes, before.

Couldn't keep my eyes off my rod tip

We had the two in the boat, released a third so we wouldn't have to quit when we got the big one ...(well for this year this counts 9#)

Took until 9:30 to get another strike, which was a double! landing one and heading home before the weather turned completely to [Bleeeeep!].

It was snotty this morning. Same story fish early I think 2 outa 4 before 7:15 then we missed a few. Lost one at the net around 11 and called it. Was really blowing by then.

See you out there tomorrow. I will be in the Arima wink

Sounds like the rain has helped cool the water and bring in the fish! 13lbs is a great Coho for this year. I am curious as to where that fish was caught tho. Another thing is floating herring.. I gotta try that.. heard it works but crowded beaches make it tough to try.. someday ill get one that size I wont stop trying!!

I wouldn't call the fish few and far between. Only small. Limits have usually been quick and easy for a few weeks but I don't think I've caught one over 8lb.

CJ - you generally need a little deeper water to float herring in. Like the Fort Casey whirlpool or a similar spot.

This rain should bring some nicer fish in...

Most of the fish I catch floating herring have been caught within 20' of shore where the water is 5' to 8' deep. Some fish caught are within 3' of shore.

Most of the hookups I get from shore come with 20' to my rod tip ha.. my dad was lifting the bait out and had the bait 2" out of the water when a Silver came out of the water and smacked it

No one has made a report in a month so I figured I should keep this post going a bit longer.

Im a beach fisherman mainly as you all know.. I have been hitting the beaches nightly (and morning) from PNP to Salisbury and everywhere in between when I can. From my time spent I have landed 1 fish out of 16 hookups since Wednesday last week. From Saturday to Monday I went 0 for 12.. plagued by bad luck, broken lines, and pulled hooks. Fish are being caught and definitely on the bigger side than what I have seen. Fewer fish more size. Herring, buzz bombs and squid looking lures seem to be the ticket.

Hearing good things about fish moving out west in the straits hopefully they head to the Kitsap way and beyond..

Hope yall continue to have tight lines and better luck than me.. I gotta shake this curse!
