* More Harvest Periods Set For Summer Runs; Sockeye Numbers Forecasted At 615,000, Compared To 347,000 Preseason
With harvests still well within prescribed limits and salmon forecasts growing ever larger, fisheries were approved Wednesday for both the tribal (upstream of Bonneville Dam) and non-tribal (from Bonneville downstream to the mouth of the Columbia river) commercial fleets.

The harvest periods, both set for next week, are likely the last of what is called the summer management season (June 16-July 31).

for non tribal comerical "Catch expectations for next week’s fishery are for fewer than 200 chinook and fewer than 50 sockeye"

" the season total catch will be about 2,520 chinook and 325 sockeye. Those totals would represent 98 percent of chinook and 18 percent of the non-tribal commercial sockeye allocation for the summer season."

"Through July 18 the tribes – the Nez Perce, Umatilla, Warm Springs and Yakama – had caught 29,313 sockeye and 16,347 chinook during the summer season. They expect to catch another 2,100 sockeye and 1,700 chinook this week and estimated a harvest of 1,100 sockeye and 1,600 chinook next week."

so very much to say about those numbers....

i am just in shock they are so low.
