Drove over the Skok yesterday on the way to Port Townsend. Saw four guys "delicately" angling in a spot below the bridge. Even saw a healthy "rip" in the two seconds I was watching. Fall has arrived on the Skok!

Fished off Purdy cutoff for awhile floating eggs.. Natives had there nets up across the entire mouth all day which didnt allow any more fish to move up. Fishing was slow, the flossers were heavy and the fish were turning dark.. saw several on the shore with bumps and bruises from being pelted with lead..

There were chinook in the Skok last week, so there should be some now. I think I saw Todd's van with a stepladder strapped to the roof headed there, so the season must be on!

I know a guy who camped down there thursday night. He was woken up at 11:00pm by the natives. They were "dredge" netting right before they had to take out at midnight. Someone said they did that to every hole. I hooked two on prawns (I Guess it works). I was one of the lucky ones. Had to walk up above the big log jam above purdy to find any fish holding. He asked one of the natives why they did it. Straight up said "to screw the white man, stay off our Fing river honky". Greedy basturds. Its always entertaining to watch people down there. Watched a guy fall into about a 10ft deep pool off a log. It was only funny because he wasn't wearing waders.

I talked to a couple game wardens that checked me to make sure I was legal, actually pretty good guys. They said that they didn't write a ticket all day...Not even the undercover guys. I guess its a picture of ethics now. lol

I like fishing the ol skok, it has fish and is reasonably close. Even if it is a toothless snag fest half the time.

In my opinion they way the natives "fish" is unethical. They destroy the chances of big fish making it to the hatchery and ruining the future fisheries. They should grab a rod and reel like everyone else. Idc who they think they are.

cj it's their business (injuns) . injuns don't fish as whether how they take their fish is ethical. to them the goal was just get the fish on the shore. very few injuns see their activity as sport. Do some research on how they fished before the whiteman came along and stole everything from them. their tactics were very primitive.

Ya just take the opinions of a bunch of slack jawed yocals (sorry guys) RATHER than reading regulations, books, research, published articles and other info on the issues...or talkin to someone that actually works in the field and has a clue of what they are talkin about..your just making assumptions with your...vast amount of experience...on the river here and trying to pass them off with some sort of scientific merit...you didn't offend you just made me shake my head and sigh cause it goes to show how people..especially young people gather their "expertise" nowadays

Not to mentions that we NEED them to pick off as many of these hatchery kings comin in early in the season...the hatchery won't take eggs till mid September ( so they don't propagate early fish pushing the run even earlier) so all those fish will just be surpluses to the food bank...OR...will.miss the hatchery and will push upstream to further fack with the genetics of our listed wild kings in the river ( which is why we have barbless regs there)

All this info is right there to be found, do it and you'll thank yourself in the long run, trust me

Sometimes it's better after closing the bar down to just go wait for daylight on the river and throw your last 10-20 measly pieces of bait. Saw about 11 over 15lbs this morning that made it past some of past some of the killing fields for the 7 of us....

Yea may bad guys I fudged up.. ran my mouth and look what that got me! On a side note tho I did go 0 for 5 today. Fishing walmart eggs haha. My gear was too light and those fish destroyed me. I thought fishing lighter would be good but they straight owned me today. Guess thats karma time to shake it off and go again!
