Well I was looking to get into bow hunting, but there are no shops around here and I really didn’t want to buy online without seeing or shooting it. Plus I’m new to it and wanted to get started right, so we were taking our annual trip to Westport this weekend for WTC so I got in touch with bow shop Bull Of The Woods Archery in Aberdeen, and made an appointment for Sunday am.
I have nothing but good things to say about this shop and owner Matt Schmitz went above and beyond what I expected from a bow shop from trying different sight peeps, various releases, and release straps, cutting arrows, tuning, shooting paper and making adjustments. Then he went on to sighing in the bow with me and overall dialing it in. Then since I am new to compounds and pretty much bows in general He gave me a starting lesson on shooting and some basic skills and check points to build on, witch I feel saved me lots of time by not learning self-taught and developing bad beginner habits. 4 and ½ hours later I was all set up and ready to go.
Anyways it’s hard to find small shops with guys that will take the time to help you out, work with you and not try and sell you all top shelf stuff. And this is one of those shops and figured I would throw this out there in case anyone is in need of bow work or bow related service or even lessons in the Aberdeen area. Owner is also a well accomplished tournament archer and writes a column for the horns and hook magazine here is his card
