I cant believe the people that arent for wild fish release. There is no such thing as a "surplus" fish. We need to protect all the wild fish left and improve hatchery operations. I love to keep fish just as much as the next guy but there is NO WAY i would ever keep a native. Catching the fish is 99% of the fun, everything else doesnt really matter. They say it takes a steelheader 33 some hours between fish, and if you need to fish for food then i'd say GET A DAMN JOB!

The good ol' days are over, CNR or go home!

"Amen" bank walker. To this day I have yet to keep a native and yes, I have been fortunate enough to have landed plenty of them to know the difference in the fight. What a difference they make. Yes it is nice to have a wall hanger but lets face the facts, take a picture and some measurements and have the people at Sportco in Fife make you a fiberglass replica that will last a life time. Look at what catch and release has done for the bass fishing industry. It is alive and well due to this great practice. " Release the fighter", catch and release wild fish should be the norm.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post bank walker! May I make a suggestion though. When there is a current identical subject going on right at the top of the board please just post under that one (Wild Fish Catch & Release) so we don't have to download twice to read the same subject matter. You will get the attention you deserve.

Im not looking for attention Fishstick. I think the subject itself needs all the attention it can get.

You know, its a fact that teenage boys are not the smartest people in this or any other forum on earth !!! Thats because they have it all in front of them !!!

Just ribbing you guys, sounds like you are headed in the right direction !!! You know when the old timers tell you "if I knew then what I know know".. thats crap. I'd do it all the same. Have fun in Alaska
