NOTICE: MARINA CLOSURES AUGUST 18th-22nd

During the week of August 18th-22nd, the Port of Kingston will be closing the marina to all vessel travel during select hours. This marina closure is a crucial part of the upcoming marina dredging project which requires the Port to relocate eelgrass out of the area to be dredged.

As part of this eelgrass relocation, several divers will be in the water for extended periods of time. Safety of these divers is paramount and as such, the Port cannot allow any vessel (Power, sail or paddle) to enter the diver safety zone.

The Port estimates that these closures will occur during the following hours:

Monday August 18th: 8 am to 5 pm

Tuesday August 19th through Friday August 22nd: 8 am to Noon then 1 pm to 5 pm.

The Port anticipates that vessel traffic will be allowed on Tuesday through Friday between 12 noon and 1 pm, and from 5 pm to 8 am the following morning.

The launch ramp will be closed during these times and vessels will not be allowed to enter, exit or operate in the marina, slip or channel area. The water area near the fishing pier and barge will also be included in these closures.

We anticipate that the actual dredging will occur in the 4th quarter of 2014.

Wouldn't be much of an issue if the Suquamish tribe hadn't objected to the WDFW permit application to the USACE for the below high water line work (including new ramp) at Point No Point. Outcome still in doubt.
