Does a one day license also require a CR endorsement for B10 or is it already included on the hyperinflated cost?

eyeFISH,

From the web site:Since April 1, 2010, anglers 15 years of age and older who fish for salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River and its tributaries have been required to purchase an endorsement that helps maintain and improve fishing opportunities throughout the Columbia River Basin.

The book says the same thing on page 6.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's an additional cost Doc, $8.75 for the endo.

519 zone doesn't say that a CR endorsement is required. If you go in to 521, you need one. There's some WDFW logic.

Tongue point to B10 either a freshwater or saltwater license is valid. Col R endorsement requirement starts upstream of Tongue Point.

No endorsement needed for one day license, according to the gal at Cabela's. Better to ask though just in case.

DB has it right.

Here is the WDFW CR Endorsement link: http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/crss_endorsement/

And here is the description of the first area listed:

List of endorsement fee waters

Mainstem Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line to
Chief Joseph Dam

So, the CR endorsement is not required for the B10 fishery no matter the length of any license nor age of angler.

As to who needs to buy an endorsement to fish in covered waters here is the pertinent language from the bill as passed:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. A new section is added to chapter 77.32 RCW
5 to read as follows: 6 (1) In addition to a recreational license required under this chapter, a Columbia river salmon and steelhead
stamp or endorsement is required in order for any person fifteen years of age or older to fish recreationally for salmon or steelhead
in the Columbia river and its tributaries where these fisheries
have been authorized by the department.

I did not see any language exempting short term licenses from the CR endorsement where applicable although it is at a (minimally) reduced price for 15 year old fishers. If one looks at the license fee matrix on page 6 of the regs there is a separate pricing structure applicable for P.S. crab endorsements to be used with a temporary license. There is no such separate pricing structure cited for annual license/temporary license for the CR endorsement. Draw your own conclusion.

Sportco says they get the questions a lot and that the one-day license includes endorsement, there isn't a way to purchase a one-day and the endorsement. That is what Sportco told us anyway.

Interesting given that there is a separate pricing structure for a P.S. crab endorsement for a temporary license.

Apparently a good question to pose to WDFW.

While fishing Lake Wenatchee we were stopped and checked, one person (elderly gentleman) on board didn't have a Columbia river endorsement (he didn't know he needed one). The officer said he was not going to issue a ticket because of how the law was written.

He said that it was a mandatory court appearance and possible jail time, not just a fine, so he issued a warning and gave him 10 days to get it.

It's a good question since the endorsement is an annual fee, but the one-day license is only for, well, one day (duh)..... Not sure they can charge an annual endorsement for a one-day license.

My sense is that the folks at Sportco have it right.

Another example of what should just be an infraction, and not a criminal act.

Just bought my buddy's one day license for tomorrow and I had to get the endorsement as well. Total = $28

A little different, but what about when I buy a one day Oregon license? They charged me a separate fee for the endorsement, but should I have had to pay when I already had paid for a endorsement to go with my Washington State License?

Yes. You need an Oregon one with an Oregon license. Different pots of money. Oregon has theirs, Washington has theirs.

I haven't looked in a while, but I think Oregon abandoned the CR endorsement and barbless hooks in tribs above Bonneville.
