The Tigers are leading KC in the 7th 3-1...if they hold on we move into a tie with KC for the second spot, one game behind the A's for the first spot.
We could beat Houston tonight and be half a game up on KC, and if we do that and the A's lose to the Phillies we will be tied with the A's!

Detroit wins 3-2 in a nail biter... M's are tied with KC for the second wildcard slot, half a game behind the A's for the first wildcard...first of three steps required for the M's to leapfrog both the A's and Royals complete!

We're not mathematically out of it yet, but that's only because the A's and Royals seem to want to fukk this up as much as we do...but as the days get shorter our chances to sneak in do, too.
I hate to blame it on one guy, because that's never the case, but Iwakuma's implosion over the last month seriously put a dent in our chances. He went from Cy Young contender to six straight bad outings...not average, or less than stellar, but plain ol' bad.
A couple of those starts looking like his midseason form and we would be strolling into the playoffs right now, and if we had Felix, Iwakuma, and Paxton all rolling on all eight cylinders right now I wouldn't want to see us in a seven game series, even if we got there via the second AL wildcard slot.

And the dumpster fire spread from the A's to the M's...specifically to Kuma's arm.  Well, it was a great season and a bit more than I was hoping for. Going from last season's 71 - 91 record to 83 - 75 with a few games left to play is a great step in the right direction. The M's need to pick up another solid starter in their rotation and at least one more big bat in the off season to really turn the corner next year. Plus they gotta keep that Bull Pen intact (which should happen). We shall see...

Fuk the Dodgers. In his final game and final at-bat after 20 years at Yankees Stadium, Derek Jeter hit a walk-off single for a Yankees win. I'm far from being a Yankees fan, but Jeter is a class act. Kudos...  I bet you were a yankees fan in the late 90's seeing how you love a good bandwagon.
