Hello Everyone,

I just moved to Sammamish from the PDX area and looking for some ideas for my first fishing season up here.
Down in OR I fished coastal streams and bank only (mainly Necanicum, Nestucca and Trask if you know the area rivers).

Can any of the rivers close to me (Sno or Sky) provide a similar experience for winters or should I shift my attention to the OP? Boat or bank?

I wouldn't mind starting with one or two guided trips. Any good guide recommendations?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Pollock,

If you want to experience fishing equivalent to what you had near your PDX home, I recommend that you become a "commuter" angler and drive back down there and fish the streams you already know. Hatchery winter steelhead are no longer planted in any of the Puget Sound rivers except the Sky, where you may find conditions somewhat crowded and fish kinda' scarce and the overall experience lacking.

You can focus on the OP, where almost all the PS anglers are now also fishing. Because of the crowds, you'll probably want a boat. However, in terms of overall drive time, you're still probably better off returning to the OR rivers you already know.

Welcome to WA, where the steelhead fishing used to be pretty good.

Head to the OP and book some guided trips to get your feet wet. than take it from there. Like said above....you may want to just head back home when ya got the itch and when it needs to be scratched......Good luck,
