I have neve fished with roe sacks, how do most of you rig then up to your hooks, via an egg loop, or running the point of the hook through the sack?

I am limited on roe this year, and fishing the small rivers and creek of central CA, I usually use small pieces of bait. I thought I could stretch my roe out some by mixing it with a little tuna and some floaters in a bag, but not sure how to rig the bag.

Thank you.

Mid-Westerners use roe sacks.
There is even a little "tool" that they use to make up the sacks.
A new way to "sack up" I guess.

I would think that a West Coast egg loop knot would hold them combined with putting the hook point through the mesh.

There are two types of egg loops, single stage and two stage.
Google 'em.

I run the hook through a very small portion of the sack and then pull it up into the egg loop. I use them frequently.

I've seen pictures of guys in Canada putting it on the tip of the hook where the bag is tied

I use them occasionally and would agree - run the hook tip through part of the mesh and secure with egg loop. Works well. If you are interested in tying them up, the bigger stores (Outdoor Emporium, Sportco, Sportsman's Whse, probably even Auburn Sports) have the mesh, machine, and magic thread to tie them up. It's easy to do.
