Hey- fixing my tail light the other day and realized my license plate is missing from the trailer. Who knows how long its been that way- remember a Hoquiam Police following me last Friday and didnt realize I was probably plate-less (though he was heading to a sting at the 7-11). I have a Rogue trailer and always kept the plate mounted to the underside of the box where the tail light/ runner light was. When I lift the trailer/ DB up on the stand for draining it scrapes. I have re-mounted the plate a couple times, used duct tape to keep in place, etc. It is a standard sized plate.

My tabs expire in December, so $30 got me a new current plate from DOL on Monday and now I am ready to re-mount it to the trailer. Curious what others do- should I mount it to the tire cover? Is that legal?

Thanks- and if you see a WA plate 6020-XA out there it's mine!

I got tired of mine being torn off from bottoming out on tough take-outs, so I bolted it sideways to the top of the trailer fender. In the ten years I had that trailer I was never ticketed or questioned and it was the last time I had to remount it.

You can get a motorcycle sized plate for your trailer. A little easier to mount out of the way.

I bought a small plate and it works fine.
The previous bigger ones kept getting bent at launches.
The only thing about the small ones and the fender is that I was told wherever it is mounted it will need to have a light.

I opted for the small plate option, and bolted it to the fender. The only way it is going anywhere is with the help of a wrench.

Fender is a good way to go. Mines mounted on a piece of stiff rubber in the original place so it will flex if the trailer gets low enough where it will touch. Also a smaller size plate

I like it under the back end of the boat so nobody can see it.

Is it missing or stolen? A lot of thieves will snag a legit plate and throw it on a stolen trailer or car. If you're not sure and your new plates are different I'd report it.

WSP told me if mounted on the fender they can ticket you if it's sideways but I haven't got 1 yet.
