Whats up with this late November push of OP chromer's?

Broodstock fish or just late wilds?

BIG run... generally starts early, peaks BIG, trails off late.

Count yer blessings folks... coastwide, this was a coho season for the record books.

I can't remember a season where I have said. "I am over catching these things" this many times.

But I keep going back for more. smile

Depends on where you're at. In the Columbia Basin, November is waaaay late. But the coastal rivers are still going strong in November.

I know at least one river in SW Washington that gets a run of wild coho into Christmas. And it's not a secret either.

Virtually every river north of the Columbia has fresh coho in it well into December, and the farther north you go there are coho that are unspawned well into February and March. There's even one where we used to occasionally catch ocean fresh coho in April.

I didn't realize that any of that was a secret wink

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Depends on if you have a secret decoder ring or not.

Gee whiz Todd..... guess I'm just not as well traveled as you.

Coho for me was always a July-Sept saltwater show, then 1st October rains till mid November deal. Lots of non-biting zombie red firetrucks after that.

I hear guys every year flapping their gums about chrome coho & even kings in late November & some flap on till the following January....

Don't get me wrong I like seeing late waves of chrome coming on, this is me speaking personally on the rivers I've fished in the last 20 years. Not quite the norm too me

YMMV

I've been surprised to find chrome coho and kings in some rivers I've not seen them this late before.

In other places, I'm certain that the best and biggest silvers are yet to come.

The proportion of wild fish in a well-traveled clip-only river (that for the record has not made wild escapement in the past 2 decades) is astonishing.

I bet it will this year, along with all the rest, too, by a mile.

Brad, sorry, didn't mean to come across like a dick, but I know you fish the west end so I am surprised that you haven't caught coho with sea lice on them in every single one of those rivers in November and December, and even in January...everyone of them has fresh in there, and a couple of them really come on around Thanksgiving.

Fish on...
