I recently posted a request for advice on the Corsair reel. I asked if the reels were worth $40.00 each that I had a chance to purchase them for. I appreciate all the responses. Unfortunately I had already place a bid on Ebay and ended up the high bidder. I received the reels and took them into my local tackle shop to have them looked at. The guy behind the counter had a smirk on his face when I told him I wanted them checked out. He went in the back room and when he came out he placed a new Corsair 300A and 400A and the counter and took my reels. He said what everyone else said that the old ones were a piece of junk and the new Gold ones are great. I explained to him again that I just bought the other reels and not interested in new ones. To my surprise he said the new ones on the counter were now mine and Shimano was replacing. I didn't ask any other questions, had the spools filled with line, and hit the door before he changed his mind. I don't know if it is a true recall but I got two new reels out of the deal. All the posters that were having problems with their old Corsair reels may want to check it out.
Thanks and good luck,
Jeff

I wish I knew that. I used my corsair about nine times and it broke. I didn’t have a reseat so I caned it.
What’s relay bad is I bought another one the day before my first one broke.
