Can anyone tell me about the steelhead fishing in the Thorne River on Prince of Wales Island in May?

Fred, the thorne is a small rain forest stream that drains a lot of muskeg boggs and cedar swamps for the most part it looks like frog water, it even has a brownish red color and big foamy beer heads floatng in the eddies. The snow run off is usually over by
May and a lot of times the rains are not heavy enough to keep the flow of the river high enough for good fishing The pink salmon fry are abundant in May and catching dollies is the most reliable fishery follwed by cutthroat and a few steelhead. I am certain that if a Lodge or some self serving individual with a profit in mind hadn't come across this little known local water the few steelhead that are at present in a decline in run strength would be much better off. Lets face it a couple of ratchet jaws with a video camera and free lodging can get a hand ful of fish on TV and make it look Fantastic Having been everywher in S.E. my advice to you is go to Yakutat and leave P.O.W. to the locals
