Fished the Cowlitz from I-5 to the Olequa launch. Took my good friend Darrell and put him on his first steelie, a 8 lb chrome bright hen!!!!! The fishin' gods must have been smilin' on us as his leader broke just as I netted the fish. She put up a good fight, boy was he pumped!!! Other than that we caught and released three cutts'. Tried some of the good input from the board on the pluggin' rod position and worked on learnin' how to back troll plugs (ya RT you put the bug in me OK!! ). No luck, we caught the steelie' boondoggin' (I told ya it works RT ). Anyway it was a great day and we had the whole stretch of the river to ourselves, it was nice not to fish with the crowd below Blue Creek.

I like that idea of not fishing in a crowd! You have room to do some "reel" fishing in between your dog-style drifts . Did you remember to use hooks on your plugs this time? Two thumbs up for the fish. - Let me know how the L. WA. sockeye opener goes. Steve
