Another stunningly beautiful Todd Moen masterpiece:

Great video! That last battle is why I hike the upper reaches of the rivers I fish.

That was definitely worth the watch!

Takes me back 20+ years to a few epic battles on the fly in the Clackamas river canyon scaling boulders and cliffs to catch up to a runaway fish and hoping it's still there once you catch up. Great stuff!!

Beautiful scene. The staged aspect of the choreographed hand off to hand off fight of the fish in the canyon was a bit much though. Better without that.

I've been in many situations like that. Staged or not. Those battles are the reason i hike into the steep canyons to chase steelhead.

Pretty cool looking video. Great fish.

A little to heavy on the prose for my blood "This fish traveled half-way around the world to meet you." LOL, really?

I think I should make my winter goal to make a very artsy-fartsy movie about plunking. "This fish traveled half-way around the world only to choke on your bait while you drink a Rainier."

Lot of good water for "bobber and jig".........lol

I enjoyed, from a memory stand point.....age and bad knees, have taken care of any "canyon experiences in this life".

If you like this sorta thing, a subscription to the online Catch magazine is only $12-ish a year. Each issue features a new film from Todd Moen and with your subscription you get access to all of the back issues/videos.

Thanks to Mooch who got me going on Catch. I've been hooked ever since. Best $12 bucks you can spend on fishing related entertainment in my opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a great video that shows all that is right about fishing, whether with fly or gear. Also affirms why some of us crazy ba$tards seek out places like these (and there ARE other places.)…..just you, the river and the fish.

"Prose" or not, Moen captures the day as few other videographers do. Fast becoming a fan of his work.
