My wife & I stayed in Smokey Point (we're from San Diego) and did our fishing on Friday & Saturday -- all from shore in various places on the Sky, Still & Snohomish rivers. Got totally skunked. A few strikes but nothing stayed on. Best spot for rod jiggles turned out to be one we found by accident -- Cheapskate Bank off Big Eddy.
Spent 4 hours at on the Sky at the Sultan (I think they call it Cracker Bar). Nada.

Watched all the guys with the waders and fancy rigs. Didn't see a single fish get pulled in. Some of the sled boat guys were bringing back fish but a lot of them were getting skunked too. One guy held up two steelies that looked to be about 28". Would've loved to hook one of them.
Some locals at Cheapskate were real helpful showing me how they rigged for plunking. Swapped a lot of stories and drank a lot of beer. <G> None of them were catching anything either.

Oh well. Now that we know what to do, we'll be better prepared next time we come up -- which may be later this year.
Thanks to all on this board with your tips and suggestions. If we have enough spare $$, the next time we come up we'll hire a guide & boat.
Anytime anyone needs trout tips for the Sierras, lemme know! That's what I know.
