All reality programming is lame, but in one of the Alaska "Swiss Family Robinson" type shows the boys are shown grabbing spawning past their prime pinks out of a small stream that they give to the local doctor so that sister can have her IUD replaced or some nonsense.

Is that legal in Alaska?

Sometimes, depends on your residency status. Might be "subsistence". Also depends on where its done etc.

It is my experience that people who claim to be needing subsistence do not appear to be living on fish and berries.

Why would reality "stars" need subsistence?

Haven't watched the show but have seen the clips to include one idiot son(?) making his shelter out of plastic wrap strung between trees.

Then there is the "reality" show of naked couples challenged to travel from point A to point B in remote locations without shelter, supplies or equipment. Or bug repellant.

These TV stars have safety nets - what is truly scary is that these shows tend to encourage others to try this type of stuff on their own.

Guess who gets to pay for the rescue or recovery????
