Neighbor offered me a sample to try on my aluminum drift boat hull……Aluma Brite by Industrial Research Products. His company carries it and says it's a big seller to brighten aluminum.

I thanked him but don't want to commit yet as some of these products actually etch the aluminum. I have nothing more than some water staining on an otherwise stock, pretty shiny hull.

Anyone have experience with this brand and company? Appreciate hearing any opinions or experiences.

Thanks.

Once you've achieved the desired shine, hit it with SharkHide.

Exactly my fear and why I'm asking.

The oxidation never was removed and it only shined parts of the boat and I immediately rinsed it of even tho it said it should be left on for awhile. I'm just gonna have a dirty ol'boat...good luck Eric

Whatever you decide think of elbow grease. Their is no easy way to get the shine desired with out it. Then, like the Doc said, coat and preserve that hard work w/ shark hyde. Sorry to say it's a bitch to have a pretty shiny boat with out the work. Or, their is always someone to do the work for you, if your willing to pay? Have fun!

The brighter the boat the spookier the fish.

I just finished using the Aluminex products on a "new to me sled". Heavy oxidation from UV through a garage window I'm guessing, as it was only in the water about 20 days. Anyway, used the Clean and Shine first and it did next to nothing, so then tried the Hull and Bottom cleaner. This went right to work, diluted as directed. In fact so fast, I couldn't control it when I sprayed it on. Decided to go by the instructions and brush it on (imagine that?) and did much better, but it still scared the **** out of me because it literally white washed the aluminum. Keep in mind, this was a first for me, so take nothing I say as having experience! In the end, I went over it completely afterwards with Flitz and it came out great, or as good as I am capable of. Even when there was some streaking from the Aluminex. My thoughts would be that if you only did the waterline, you may see a transition between old and new.
