Greetings from Ontario, home of some of the worlds master floatmen. Maybe we can help each other out with different ideas and teqniques... Anyways, I'm here and I will be around once in a while as we have about 6 weeks here before any fish start coming in the rivers and meanwhile I'm going stir crazy!!!! You guys don't know how lucky you are having summer runs of steelhead and salmon. Out here rivers are to hot all summer so salmonoids do not survive if they enter the rivers at that time. But once it cools down we get a ton of fish from Sep-May, and the Great Lakes boys are way out there with float fishing tactics so hopefully we can trade some of our ideas and apply them in our own rivers and everyone is a winner!!!!

I live in S.E. Minnesota, and used to live on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Haven't had the chance to fish the Salmon, Genesee, or Oak Orchard yet, but plan on it in the fall of 2001. Just got hooked on the float thing a couple of years ago. Prior to that, I was a chuck n duck drift fisherman for about 20 years. You'll find the guys on this baord are a lot of help. I have found several of the "west coast" techniques, to work well on our fish. Actually had a chance to go out to Washington and meet a couple of the guys. Will be heading out there this Fall to fish for chum slamon (something else we don't have). E-mail me sometime, and we can shoot the breeze on floats. I have a lot to learn on fine tuning my presentation. Just ordered a couple dozen floats from Rodworks.com. You should check out their site. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Doesn't it drive you nuts knowing that these guys can fish for steelheads in the summer? The only fish in our rivers right now, are carp, suckers, and smallmouth bass. Hope we have a rainy, cool fall, to bring those fish in before I go ape. Would be interested if you get floats to work for chinooks. Take care, and don't go bananas waiting for the Labor Day run of fish.
