fished wash on Sun morning from 0400 to 1000. fished the bowling alley for the first time. ( nothing)
Moved up to the canyon and hooked a steelie on a 1/4 oz wobblerite ( red& white ).
.....lost it :-(..........<@)((><
guy beside me hooked one and lost it also. ( what a coincidence!)

Anyone have any preferences for fishing the whitewater pockets in the upper part below the hatchery? I was tossing shrimp but kept getting hung up. That water looks really good, but its frustrating to have to tie on new gear every five minutes.
Is using a float abetter idea? what about a fly rod? any help would be appreciated

also: is the skamania hatchery and below the best water; or can you fish above the hatchery?
definitely learned that barbs need to be pinched down on that river. Lots of nate smolts.

MAN YOU DON"T WANT TO FISH BELOW THE HATCHERY
ITS CLOSED WATERS !!!!!!!!!!!!
You can park at the steelhead hatchery and walk upstream and cross the water intake for the hatchery, there is a trail over the intake
its legal to fish there.Your lucky you didn't get caught.I don't think the stevenson jail would be a fun place to stay. Not counting the tow bill on your rig and the big Fine you would get !!!!.Its still rough fishing above the hatchery rapids
and low water, bring lots of gear and fish behind every rock. You've already had good luck not getting caught but good luck fishing anyway. Use mostly just shrimp or eggs and the very least amount of weight you can !!!

just to let the board and fellow washougal anglers know, I meant below the hatchery in reference to what part of the river I was on. ( down river from the hatchery ). To be specific 2 or more miles downriver. I play by the rules. ( I would hope so being that I hope to be a fisheries biologist in a couple years!!!)
