So I have a chance to go to Terrace in early april for 10 days. I was hoping you guys could help with some advice on where to stay and what I might expect from a spring trip. I know most guys go in the fall but since I have the chance I figured I would jump on the opportunity. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this will be a DIY trip. I plan on centerpin fishing and throwing spoons mostly. Thanks again for any help you can provide.

I have fished the area extensively. Best to find a cheap motel in Terrace as a headquarters. The Kalum has some fair bank access and the Copper has tons. The Copper below the Clore is often filthy but almost always fishes well above it.

If you can afford it get in contact with Gill McKean. And get him to guide you for a day. It will be a damn good investment.

Expect lots of snow in early April. It can make banking it tough.

I fished a week with Gill (at a great expense) and I had a different experience. They look great on tv and talking with Gill but I think you get a very different experience if you are fishing royalty (Vedder) who might promote his outfit. Not a great experience for me though. Still, I don't know of anyone who is more in tune with the spring runs.

I believe all but the lowest part of the Copper is closed in the spring. There can be good fishing and relatively uncrowded compared to the fall. But like the fall, things can blow out in 10 days, especially the later in the spring it gets. The Kitimat gets some nice fish too. There can be some good cutthroat fishing too, if your in to that.
