WHat is the best fishing book ever? fiction non-fiction, dosn't matter, but was just thinkin about what I will be readin this winter.

Two nonfiction-since I do not have them with me all I can give you is the titles--one is named KING-great book, given from the perspective of a BIG Chinook that from birth to death you see what he sees and the stories of the fisheads that "lost the big one"-I believe the author is from Port Townsend.

The second book for all us fishheads is THE RIVER WHY-its mostly about flyboys-but all about riverfishing.

KING, was written by Mike Clarke, from Port Hadlock, Wa. Through friends at Fijord Press, I was lucky enough to get to read an unpublished manuscript of his about the run-ins between a bluecollar moocher, and an ultra-rich yuppie downrigger dude. Mr. Clarke, I sure hope you find a publisher, I loved it. As to the greatest fishing book, I guess it would have to be my Washington Atlas and Gazeteer reason 1: it goes on all my fishing trips, reason 2: I refer back to it all the time, reason 3: it's helped me catch more fish than any other book I own.

Mountain in the Clouds by Bruce Brown. It's an excellent read about the greed and destruction that lead to the demise of the steelhead and salmon runs in Washington state. Alot about logging practices and dams. I'd say a must read for anyone who fishes the rivers in this state.
