So, last night I decided to run down to Spanaway Lake with my 9 year old and see if we could catch something. On the way, we passed Washington High School. In the middle of the parking lot was a newer truck with all the windows down, no one in sight. I took one look and said to my Daughter, make sure we look to see if that's still here on the way home, 10 to 1 its stolen. On the way out this morning, the pickup is still sitting there. In this area, no one in there right mind leaves that truck there the way it is sitting. What bothers me is that this is a busy road and about 10% of the time there is a Sheriff filling out paperwork or eating lunch there, but when I called the non-emergency line to ask someone to check up on it the dispatcher stated asked for the license number, which I did not have, then stated it was a private parking lot so they would not be able to check it out.
Several years ago they ran a car into the fence across the street, left the door open and abandoned the car. It took these same cops almost 3 or 4 days to even mark it and a then afterwards pick it up.
This despite the fact an officer probably went by it 10 or more times a day.
For me, my vehicle is essential for work and basic life. To have someone ignore it because they don't want to have to fill out the paperwork kind of pisses me off.
If it is not stolen, I apologize, but it still does not justify them telling me they can not stop and look at it. Sorry, but I really get sick of the local sheriff's attitude. A kid got killed here less than a month go on the same street (about 5 blocks away). From the outside, no effort is being made to investigate. I drive by the site of the shooting every day. No signs to call in, no flyers on the door asking if we saw anything. The effort to look like they are doing something would at least help prevent future such actions. In action just pushes the same feeling I always get around here. No one cares, unless of course, you are not wearing a seat belt.
