With the rivers closed, I've been on the salt more, and am worried about the condition of my trailer. Used to be I only had to drag 1/2 mile to the launch, but now I'm 11 miles away, and the rust on my springs and associated tackle is extreme. Like, fit for a cutting wheel rather than a wrench extreme.

It's an EZ Loader holding a 17' Campion center console (1750 springs would be fine--standard 26" open eye).

Is there a marina or trailer supply shop in the Anacortes/Mount Vernon area who might have leaf springs and mounting tackle in stock? Plan to call Cape Sante tomorrow…can anybody recommend a better course of action?

Is there a cost/benefit threshold I should be looking at between buying a new trailer and refurbishing my own? Most of the wobblies need to be replaced, and most of the hardware is rusted…would be quite temped to have a fresh ride for $1K if I could.

Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated.

I just bought a set from 6 Robblies and had a
good buddy with a welder and got it installed.

Got them delivered to Aberdeen in 2 days.

Came out excellent.

Only use mine in salt and
they were in pretty bad shape. Broke one 1
hundred miles from home. A bit of rope and a
3 foot 2x4 got me home.

Thanks for the tip--bookmarked. Hope to avoid the rope and 2x4 fiasco, but am at the point that am considering chaining axel to frame so that axel doesn't end up in the ditch when the hardware goes…

Keep those good buddies well watered, sir--

if you have time, visit Eastern marine`Trailer parts superstore. best pricing , fast shipping, take about an hour per side to install. take a can of cold compound galvanizing spray paint to each new leaf spring before install. available @ most lumber yards & Home depot. keeps the rust to a minimum. cheers

Thanks, tydy…might do that this fall, as much of the other hardware also needs treatment/replacement, but just finished install, which wasn't too bad except I burned up my little angle grinder (luckily had another). At least it will be a cinch to drop the axle next time. For now I've coated the springs and hardware in Corrosion Block…not sure how I feel about some of the other recommended treatments, as all that stuff will be dunked in the Bay…paint seems much more responsible.

Glad I got to that…rear port mounting bolt was worn to a triangular sliver about 1/3 of the original bolt diameter…6 Robblies had everything I needed in stock.

Now, on to replace that VHF antennae I sat on and cracked the other day…
