It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Doug,

I'd give serious consideration to a few select items:

Plug-cut or whole herring trolled behind a diver.

The aforementioned herring trolled behind a lead ball on a sinker-slide with a dropper.

A herring or sardine-wrapped Kwikfish/Flatfish trolled behind a lead ball w/ dropper.

A thin spoon or large spinner trolled off a downrigger.

A hoochie/flasher combo trolled off a downrigger.

I'm not familiar with the bay there at Waldport, but I'm guessing the water to be about 40-60 feet. In that case you'll want to target the top 25 ft or so for Nooks and Coho until the sun is fully on the water, and then fish the bottom 10 ft. for Nookies and the middle 20-30 ft. for silvers, although these aren't hard and fast rules.

Good luck in your quest, hope these suggestions might help you some. Let us know how you do.

Fish on.........

Most fish are caught in about 15ft of water but there is a 50 foot deep hole where a few fish are caught. Fish in between the deep hole and the surf and fish both directions. It's only about 150 yards. The fishing zone is small and not much room for a lot of pressure. Most of the fish are caught trolling plug cut herring with a 3oz to 16oz lead dropper depending on the strenght of the tide. The locals really know the tides so if you see a lot of boats hang on to your rod because they know something. I have had decent days when there is light pressure so don't be disappointed if there are only a few boats. The locals don't know everything.
