I recently inherited a Loomis rod (my first) and just had a question. I was told it was a little older but am not sure what blank material it is.

It is a 1165-2C with an outline of a fish on it. Ill try to get a photo up. Any idea what blank it is?

Steelhead Series. Supposedly GL3 in the tip for durability and from there on down is IMX material. A great rod, some people like them more than IMX.

There good rods no doubt, but not up to the all IMX in my book.

That particular rod you have would be a good one for right now.......on wild winter steelhead.

Fished it's little brother an 1163c some last winter a 14 lb. wild hen maxed it out. Pretty sure Denham is correct on the materials.
