Pulled this info out of a WDFW press release......

With a new season of outdoor adventures about to begin, Washingtonians might want to consider purchasing 2016-17 fishing and hunting licenses before current licenses expire at midnight March 31.

The cost of fishing and hunting licenses remains the same as last year, and most annual licenses include a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) vehicle-access pass. That pass allows people to use and park at more than 700 WDFW water access sites and 33 wildlife areas throughout the state. More licensing information is available at http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/.

I will be buying my new British Columbia license online as soon as I get home. I hear it is the land of real opportunity for a fisherman.

This is the time of year we could all ban together..... not purchase our licenses so it stings the state..........& get our word across to them. But NO.......we are all to greedy to hold out as there would be less pressure on the water.......for those that bought the licenses. Just sayin...........food for thought. Good luck,

SZ

I'm with ya, Strike Zone! Best way to get our voices heard would be to buy our licenses a month late instead.

No license for me this year. I have a few buddies who primarily fish on my boat that won't be buying one as well. They'll be fishing with me in SE AK.
Looking at the forecast, I don't expect think I'll be missing much!

i'll be waiting til I see what the seasons are in the local rivers before picking up a new set of tags and even then it won't be til the night before I need them. truthfully if the dept is conservative with seasons and limits i'll be more inclined to support them for another year.

And I thought I was a cranky bastard...

Unless you travel like Vedder, I don't know how anyone can consider themselves a fisherman and not buy a local license. Trust me, I know that a lot of opportunity has been lost but I'd probably still buy a license to fish for bluegill if that was all I could do. Luckily, despite all the doom and gloom, I've actually managed to catch fish in nearly every month of the year. Worst case scenario is you have to drive a few hours. Despite all efforts, Washington still has a lot to offer.

Sorry, I need a license to catch me a DAM springer.

Once you retire, got to have something to do......fish is what I do. Really pissed me off, when they closed the Chehalis and the Wynoochee, late October to December 16th, 2015. Took away my places to go, anchor and watch the tip of the rod.....thanks to "all the high water", made the "no fishing" easier on me.

Oh I know, have other things to do......pull weeds, clean house, do the grand pa bit, but fishing is what I enjoy doing.

I'd probably buy a license, if there was NO FISHING......lol

Hmmm, I could probably do without the salt water license this year, since Gray's Harbor will probably be shut down, or should be even if it isn't. On the other hand, this might be the year that I actually get out and chase sea run cutthroat around south Puget Sound. That, and I need the license to go clam digging this spring. Although fishing opportunity has been dropping like flies in recent years, there remains just enough to keep me coming back.

Looks like it's going to be a good year for fishing licenses. I can see BC, Montana, Oregon, and even California in my fishing forecast.

Well, with the comments so far I guess I'll have a lot more room to fish this year with so many not buying licenses. There is a lot of fishing to do besides salmon and steelhead. Glad to not have so many on the water. Bob R

It's true to say there's more to fish for, Bob. It's fairly safe to say that you will NEVER encounter enforcement participating in any fishery not involving salmon and steelhead, so no need for you to buy yours either!

Yes, I am all talk, and I will, provided I'm breathing, buy a license.

Actually, I have been checked more often when NOT fishing for salmon or steelhead. On the coast fishing for surfperch, trout fishing, crabbing, one or two salmon fishing. I would NEVER count on not seeing enforcement, I've never received so much as a warning in 38 yrs. here. These folks that think that not buying a license will influence the state, I've NEVER heard that sentiment voiced while in LOTS of meetings with the state, I guess they are like you, all talk and then buy a license. Tell the state about it, not just voicing rhetoric on a forum. Put your mouth where the state is, here you are just preaching to the choir. Bob R

There's not really a point to saying that I wouldn't buy a license at a meeting. A handful of people not buying in won't affect the wdfw budget a bit.

Also if I were to state "we" (as in sporties) wouldn't buy a license because of dissatisfaction with the dept's management, they wouldn't worry too much either. The dept knows full well that sporties can't agree on anything for that to be much of threat. If, and that's a big if, enough people didn't buy or even poseponed buying tags while sending in emails to the director expressing the concerns. That would at least get some attention.
