Hi all,

I have been tying yarn on corkies my whole life (self taught) and wanted to ask if anyone out there has a better method. I usually tie a piece on with my fly tying gear or use a bait hook loop. It works well but I know there have to be better ways. What is the best way people?

I don't tie it I wrap it in the egg loop.

so you simply let the yarn ly in the loop? no knot of any form?...I am not using the leader, but a small separate piece.

I like to just put it in the egg loop with out knots. If you put enough in and pick it so it stands out it really makes a large profile. Trim it carefully after you pick it to shape. Mix your colors up and you can get some really fun looking yarn lures. Add a corky to float it and your good to go.

We tie a snell knot, and slide the yarn under it, and trim to the shape of an egg. If you use a corky, just slide it on your line first, snell your hook, slide in the yarn, trim it, and you are good to go. Ask Snagly if it works. He saw it first hand on the Zipper this spring.

When I use yarn...I NOW just lay it in the egg loop and cinch the loop down over it!

I USED to form a u-shaped loop with the yarn...lay it under the egg loop line...and slip the tail ends back through at the fold of the yarn...cinching it down on the egg loop, but most everyone I talked to said it's not worth the hassle and that just laying it in the loop will work fine!

Hope you're having fun out there!
