I am leaving this weekend for a long awaited fishing trip to NW B.C. Now I'm very concerned about the amount of rain that seems to have been falling in the Terrace area and the region to it's north. We are going to be river fishing for late Kings and some steelhead. If the rivers get blown out with rain what other alternatives are good ones up there for the week? Leaving by late Sat. afternoon so any quick info would be greatly appreciated by our crew. Thanks. - RT

Try Misty River Tackle in Terrace: 250-638-1369. I've found them helpful in planning my upcoming trip. (I spoke with Troy, but there are a couple of other good fisherman there, too.)

Wow, I didn't even know there were any fall chinook that far north thats interesting.
The area your refering to has become quite trendy the last ten years and as a result many of the little side show activitys that we used to partake of when the rivers were out (sometimes for a week) have gone away with the crowds. Grouse hunting, beaver ponds for cutthroat, and just wandering around chatting with locals.
They made a five fold increase or more in the grouse license the cutties all got hammered and the locals aren't quite as friendly as they were when there were only a few of us.
Your best bet is to not let the rain fall good luck

Had another thought there is one system that comes out of a lake that from time to time has really outstanding Coho fishing this time of year and because it comes from a lake it tends to be in shape when others aren't havent been there my self in several years but unless they whacked the trees it should still be so.
Its called Lac Else on the chart its a trib to the Big river enough said

Thanks much Native son! When I fished the Kitimat R. several years ago I remember talk of the lake and river you're refering to. Good tip. Yes, there are a couple of late (for NW B.C.) large runs of big Kings in remote areas, as well as the big steelhead of Sept./Oct. I'm going with friends for the first time to that particular area so I don't know the exact location. I'm sure they will blindfold me on the way in . - RT
