SteelyDan,
The Wynoochee is so low and clear right now, I have more water running in my toilet then in the nooch, even this rain didn't bring it up at all. The nooch doesn't get any hatchery salmon, they may get a few hatchery strays. The native silver run isn't any thing to brag about. The kings on this river also aren't anything to brag about. The Satsop will be the same it was last year and the year before and the year before that and so on. The Hump doesn't open till Oct 1, and you can only keep a hatchery silver. This river gets a decent run of them, but with the limited keepable fish, there may be better bets. I stopped by the chehalis (28th st.) to see how things were going and the fish checker said on Friday that only 5 fish were brought in, 3 silvers, 2 kings and one of the kings was a jack. Saturday 4 fish caught, all kings. Now if you have ever fished this water you will know that this gets alot of pressure, exspecially when the fish are biting, but for now they are better bets!

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Kev,

The water's a little skinny to start that far up, as of now. Until the flow gets up around 6-700 cfs, you'd be doing a lot of dragging. Probably better off starting at Cook Creek until the flows get up a little more. After the flows come up, the drift from Schaeffer park is a nice one, no problem water to speak of at all.

Fish on.........

Satsop fishing gets GOOD after the heavy rains come. If they come late, like October,
the fish have a habit of shooting up to the hatchery. It is also very good in Nov.
