I'm looking forward to the lawsuit where the Tribes' allow the state to take their harvest as habitat destruction.

The Tribes have no actual standing due to their treaties under the 14th amendment...

If the Tribes want treaties and standing they need to assimilate,, give up dual citizenship.. Unregulated ports of entry is dangerous to the country...

And stop the tribal casino $$ laundering that has exploded in the last 15 yrs. Ever since the corporations took over Vegas and ousted the mafia for there $$ laundering activities, the tribal casinos have filled the void. They have become the leader in the unchecked/unregulated $$ laundering venues available for organized crime. And have become a contribution leader in the local political campaign contributions arena. The FBI should be all over this. Cmon Trump! Money for the deficit to be made here!

A friend of mine asked for a river update so here goes. Everything has been rather blah for a bit but in the last couple of days I have had several salmon doing the scoot across the water leaving the back V in the water when the tide is out. Little early for Coho so I imagine it is Chinook jacks (3 year olds I think) but one cannot say for sure. A substantial number of some sort of small fish have been around and frankly it is a lot of them. The bald eagle has been going nuts going after them when the tide is low and judging from the ones he gets and I can get a look at as it flies up to the trees about 5 to 7 inches in length. No idea from me what they are but that bird is in hog heaven! The Blue Herons have been working the channel also and cleaning up on some fish but these are much smaller than whatever the eagle is after so we have a lot of small fish in schools around. I watched two guys sturgeon fishing hook one no idea on size but it took them the better part of half an hour to get it to the boat to release. It must have been a large one judging by the high fives and shouting! Again be careful of the East end of Higgins Island when the tide is around half in or out. I watched a wave runner find the gravel bar and it caused a interruption in his race up and down the river. With no high water of any size for a couple of years the gravel bar is building and we have several new dead heads lurking around. One thing for fishing. The weather forecast for September and October has much more rain than normal. While I never believe extended forecast day by day the patterns I do pay attention to and this forecast is different. C&P the link below to see but wetter and well below average temperatures appear to be in our fishing futures! https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/aberdeen/98520/september-weather/336359?year=2025

Little update on what I have seen for fish moving. Everything seems to be about normal and in upper tidewater they are starting to roll where folks can see them. The rain bounced the rivers and the Satsop is supposed to drop to average flows and the Chehalis back some below average flows. So the water for fish is cooler and just plain better. While the rain didn't do much for the mainstem other than make conditions for the fish better it certainly helped the rearing areas. Flushing the ponds and rearing areas this time of year is simply great for juveniles! The rest of August forecast is another warm spell then about average. Now September is different with below average temperatures with some days mid 70s but mostly well below mormal upper 60s and some rain. For September fishing that is a good forecast!

https://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/rfc/I thougt I would post up the Chehalis water conditions. So the Olympic fed streams are below average but not much after the recent rains. The upper Chehalis is not the same as it has dropped right back down record low flows. How this plays out in fishing season is still to be seen as the fish have pretty much ignored history and timing has been all over the board the last few years. Not much for rain until late Sept and to be honest if you follow the link it is last half of Oct before we get good ran. Going to be interesting! https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/aberdeen/98520/september-weather/336359?year=2025

Is it possible that the fish are ignoring the water levels because we are making them smaller? While a 50 pound Chinook or 15-20 pound coho might have issues with skinny water, a fish half that size might be ok.
While the loss is size has been shown to be a product of fishing and changing food sources that shrinkage may be allowing them an opportunity to survive.
Mostly just wondering, but it does make some sense.

Was asked who to contact in region 6 now that Mike has moved on. I asked and was told the position will be filled soon. So the region harvest manager is Chad Herring Chad.Herring@dfw.wa.gov and Kim. Figlar-Barnes Kim.Figlar-Barnes@dfw.wa.gov has worked the Chehalis for years. So if you have questions there you are.

Heather Hall is "newest Region 6 Director", I've been in contact with her on getting Fuller Hill ramps cleaned off....didn't take long, so both are good to go!!!!!!
White Bridge boat launch, been working on that for 2 plus years, still blocked off!!! Even gravel bar, other side on river, has restrictions on usage but she did get right on it when I emailed her.
Here is her email address:
Heather.Hall@dfw.wa.gov
