Thanks Guys,
It sounds like I'm not the only one who get's SKUNKED,but I was beginning to wonder.
It seems like there should be a way to coax a strike on skunk days. How about you guides that make a living at it,any secrets or do you just accept that some days other than a fun boat ride your clients are going home fishless. And yes I do just love being on the river,but......lester

Lester
Since your question is so broad and we don't have insight into your fishing ability or style of fishing it makes it difficult for anybody to help. There are hundreds of books written about different techniques and how to use them. Tell us how you fish and maybe we can offer some ideas to help.

Lester, my advice would be to pick a proven method and practice. Forget about the "latest craze" and all the other mothods you've tried. Learn to read water and take note of everything you can think of when you do hook a fish. In my opinion, having confidence in what you're using, is more important than what you're using.
good luck!

I am talking about the days when the bite appears to be off no matter whar you do.I fish every concievable way possible. The days I'm talking about no-one else is catching fish either, even the guides are fishless. To be more specific does a guy stay out there and flog the water or head for the nearest watering hole.My initial bb was suppose to be somewhat humerous. Please don't take me to serious.Friday I had a biteless ten hour drift on my favorite river so I was a little mifted.lester

If you could solve that one, you would be rich. That's just part of fishing, whether we like it or not. I was fishing on a river today and fish were all over, but do you think we could buy one? Saw a snagger get two and then ran off when the game warden showed up on the other side of the river.

Sounds like today was a bad day fishing everywhere. I was out today and we did manage one fish in the first 30 seconds of our day then after that it was skunk city limits. There where fish moving everywhere and everyone was having a rough go of it. The overall average on the river was 1/3 fish per rod....with hundreds of fish moving through every hole..go figure. That's fishing and sometimes you just gotta recognize that it isn't you it is just how it is going to be that day. I always figure it was a day I paid dues to the fish gods.....better days are ahead. No better optomists in the world than gold miners and fisherman.

Never have experienced this phenomenon. I have had great fishing on every trip I have ever been on. I'll tell you one thing though, there have been lots of trips where the catching wasn't great at all. We will never figure out a sure fired way to always garuantee positive results. And if they do, don't tell me. I like waking up with butterflies in my gut, wondering if I am about to have the best or worst catching day of my life. Every trip should be like Christmas morning. Enjoy them, they are fewer than we realize.

Well Lester one simple and easy soloution would be to pursue the fish with a fly rod no one expects you to catch any that way and when you do you can tell them you didn't and they will beleive you and you will have a seceret that you can choose to share or not.

Great Answer's Guy's!!!!!!
I appreciate everyone of them, you are all so right.I keep telling my fishing partner"just wait until it's our day and everything goes our way how much fun we'll have" and he says "yea, but can't we get at least one bite per trip".lester
