Would be intereting to see how they come up with their numbers. If someone builds on home on five acers do they consider that as a five acre loss ? I see alot of loss due to transportion, are they considering all the forest service roads that are not being mantianed?

I don't know the answer to your question however the interactive map that was linked to was produced by the Conservation Science Partners in conjunction with the Center For American Progress. Wikopedia has no information on the C.S.P. but it does have information on the C.A.P. here. The Wikipedia information might give you an idea of the groups agenda which might sway their methodology.
