The last several years I have had no problem getting limits of dungies on 4th of July weekend near the south end of vashon in MA 11. Later in the season we would still get dungies, but mostly females and undwrsized.

Yesterday, we checked three pots twice and a fourth pot once and had zero keeper dungeness. We did get 11 larger than usual red rock crabs.

Anybody else getting similar results?

At the casinos.

Same for me and everybody else I spoke with. 4 pots pulled 3 times for 9 keepers.

That and shipped alive to Asia along with vast quantities of geoduck.

That said, we did fairly well in 8-2 with some nice sized crab in the mix. Expect to see that success rate drop off fairly quickly.

It was a zoo in our area in large part because folks were not spreading out due to there being no fishing. Seemed like the canal on opening of shrimping!

Saw one woman roll out of a small skiff when she leaned over to grab a buoy. The skiff stayed upright - she was wearing a PFD and swam to the beach while her male companion on the oars pulled the pot. What a guy! lame

I have my boat in Des Moines Marina in one of the dry sheds. I slung my boat in on Thursday before the crab opener on Friday. Rented a covered slip for the entire 4th of July weekend to crab across at Maury and Vashon Islands in area 11. This is my secondo season in area 11 after 17 years up in area 7 out of Bellingham. I did very well last year in area 11 at Vashon and Maury.
The crab results were 6 dungeness for three days of soaking pots overnight. It was horrible. Never had these type of results. I wasn't willing to travel more than a few miles to tend the pots since I live walking distance from the marina and figured I'd get long, 24 hour soaks pulling them 3 times a day. All others that Crabbed in the same general area had same results. The further north the results got better in northern area 10 on up.

I'd like to know where all the crab went......

Didn't do very well it all on the opener in MA 10. Either the commercials or tribes must have wiped it out. We pulled 6 pots on the 4th after a long soak and only had 1. Opening day we got 14 between us. Time to find another area.
