going to buy one soon, maybe this weekend not sure on that yet...

thinking about getting one of these, looked at a EAA Witness in 10mm but the thing weighed as much as Rosie Odonnell

http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-09-9mm-black-polymer-19-rd-mags/

anyone own or have owned a CZ? ive shot one of their rifles a couple times but know nothing about the pistols, from the reviews they look to be pretty good, and in person they are very well built guns...

oh, and im going with .40 SW not 9mm...

Just went and looked at a CZ 75, didn't like the grip, the P 07 wasn't there for me either, what was recommended, and felt very nice was the Spring XD mod 2... Felt prefect, and I really liked the mag/grip extension that can shorten or increase grip length....

Did look at a Sig, but the one I looked at, not sure of model, literally had no safety at all....

Yer in the minority....even Hickok45 couldn't stop raving about the CZ 75 hand fit.
The CZ 75 fits like a glove unless you have itty bitty hands.

But it's a full size steel frame.
Maybe not the best carry piece.

For plastic frame carry....
Glock
S&W
Ruger
XD

Best advice is to go to a range that rents and try them out.

I have a CZ 75 SP-01
The big dog.
Wicked cool race gun....not great for carry.

It wasn't bad, just not as comfortable as the XD...

Very well built like the other CZ pistols I've seen, and the accuracy seems to be excellent in all reviews...

Free rentals Wednesday's at the marksman, may go shoot a couple guns before I buy one, really want to shoot a CZ first..

I switched over to a 2" 500 S&W magnum. Bring enough gun.

I bought my wife a LCP380 and I have been really impressed. Function, accuracy, price. I am very happy with it.

Ergonomically, the safety is kind of a joke but I'd consider the 9mm version for me.

I'll add that the reason we chose the LCP was because she was having a difficult time cycling the slide and with the trigger pull with other models. Of the half dozen or more she played with, this one was by far the easiest for her to handle and it fit her hand.

I can understand that. Ladies sometimes have a hard time with heavy slides. A buddy of mine got his gal a 2" .357 wheel gun for that very reason. She loves it and can knock out a flea's eye at 25 yards with it.

Just kidding. Actually my EDC is an XD in .45ACP. The compact 4" barreled version with either 10+1 or 13+1.

I would suggest a compact model of any of the full sized pistols mentioned. Trying to conceal a 1911 or other full sized pistol is definitely difficult. I have no issues concealing my compact XD wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

The CZ's are nice. Good reviews. 10mm is not a beginner's gun. 9mm is great for a start. .40 S&W is a bit snappier. .45 is very controllable 10mm with full power loads isn't readily controllable for a beginner. Dummed down loads, 1,000fps 180gr loads, mimic .40S&W, so why not just get a fortay?

Personally, unless you're hunting with it, I wouldn't suggest a 10mm.

looked at the CZ P 09 and P07, very well built, not a good choice for me for carry...

looked at the FNS 40, nice gun, kinda getting expensive...

looked at the HK VP40, again nice gun, same deal...

the Sig P2022 i looked at, again, didnt have any safeties, just the decocker, long trigger pull to get the first shot off if hammer is down, but the no safety thing i dont like..

looked again at the XD Mod 2 (4 inch), felt excellent, same with the XDM (same gun different trigger), the XDS tho didnt fit me right, felt a little small...

thinking im gonna go with a XD 40, that HK tho wasnt bad...

theres also the option of getting a used gun, but in this situation, im thinking that may be a bad idea....

yeah ive kinda thought that, but the trigger pull on a revolver is alot more than a semi auto, plus the cylinder has to rotate ect making it even more hard to dishcharge in a holster or whatnot...

maybe im over thinking that part, but ive always been pretty safe with firearms...

there were a couple used Sigs for 380 that looked in great shape, probably gonna go check them out again, id like to shoot one first but the Marksman doesnt have any so ill have to find somewhere else, if there is anywhere else...

Andy or Scott or DD, i used to shoot Magtech out of the .38 and .45 ( as well as HSM)..

are those even good practice rounds? i dont want to run crap ammo that can do more harm than good...

they are only 14.99 a box, if anything ill just get the Winchester or Remington rounds for 18.99 but was wondering if the cheaper stuff would be a good option or not?

picked up a Blackhawk SERPA holster, nice, really fast, was going to get a Crossfire but the gun stuck in it and i didnt like that, the Blackhawk is a bit bulky, but in cooler weather it wont be an issue to conceal it, id need to wear a button up shirt to do it now...

also bought the Pachmayr Tactical Glove, slip on grip like the Hogue, absolutely love it, adds just enough width to fully fill my hand perfectly, about 1/8th in on each side... great rubber finger grooves and feel, check one out if you havent already....

Your ammo is going to be about .25 per round.
I wouldn't go with either of what you listed when name brand is just a few pennies more.

i ended up just getting the Winchester Target loads, 61 bucks for 200 of them, not too bad, .30 cents a round... still cheaper than buying it by the single box...

put 180 rounds down, gun functions like a dream... not 1 FTF or FTE, no hiccups, nothing, and there were other people shooting Colts and Rugers that jammed, so im happy....

havent shot for over a year, so i can tighten up with this for sure... probably will enter the next steel comp they have at the range up the street...

there was a steel comp today, next one isnt till December but one guy said possible there could be one in November depending on the hunting season and how many people will come and whatnot....

so for sure Dec, i think 7th...

never shot a .40 till today... very controllable round, matter of fact, it seems weak to me... now i really want a 10mm rofl

going to buy a 5 shot .357 revolver, this guns a bit bulky, wont be a problem in the winter, but i dont wear coats and sh!t, so... love the gun tho, not getting rid of it...

they had some nice Taurus .357 revolvers for 260 used, stainless, and in excellent shape, gonna grab one of them for cooler months, and every other day its not below freezing rofl

thanks guys for your help in all this

Taurus is fine in a wheel gun as long as you don't shoot it.....much. Full house.357 loads and you'll be sending it back to Taurus for tightening.

The GP100 or a Smith is the right way to go.

What about an sp101?

Used Smith's are about 500 so it's doable, I figured Taurus would be good considering they have the raging thirty and bull...

SP101 is great for a 5 shot short barrel, small frame but the GP is what a .357 is supposed to be.

the main reason i was going to get a revolver is the size, the 5 shot 2 inch guns are very small, and easy to conceal... the GP grips look to be the size of regular smith 686's, which is bigger than the XD i have...

my mom has a LS60 which is an awesome gun, i guess cops use them alot for boot guns, but they arent cheap (800+)...

the SP101 keeps with that small grip, small frame, which would be really easy to conceal it, even in a sweatshirt pocket or whatnot...

i like the large frame guns like the 686 too, but they are just too big for what im aiming for...

Had a few in the past. One M-19 in 6" and a pair of 4" M-66. Even had a M-17 in 8 3/8" w/ a 2x Leupold on it!

Also had the FBI favorite M-66 the heavy 3" w/ the round butt combats on it. That was a nice looking piece, but never could get it too shoot.

I have the 6" Target version.
The highest evolution of the (production) wheel gun, IMO.
This thing shoots where you are pointing it.
Feed it HBWC's and cut up the center of the target.

Smith was doing the "glass rod breaking" thing decades before Geissele came along with that description.

My current carry piece is the Colt Defender in 45, the Wife carry's the same in 9MM. I have no complaints on either. Just not a fan of the Plastic stuff on the market.
