"That is how they sample the run for the biological work that wdfw and the tribe do. They use the boat tied up to the fish ladder as a working platform, and release the fish directly into the ship canal. Last time I saw them there the muckleshoot biologists were tagging fish (sockeye) to estimate mortality due to the high water temperature in the ship canal."

there is a certain amount of irony in studying the effects of water temperature and salmon mortality downstream of man made choke point, filled with gill nets...





unless of course you have a state or federal grant...
