Hi all, I fish and do not hunt so guns are not my area of knowledge.

Being these are firearms, I am very careful about bringing this to open discussion, but have some questions.

*disclaimer-looking for advice only-not looking to sell under the table-I want to do this all above board
*these are not stolen etc should go without saying

My family has around 10 rifles/shotguns that come from older generations. some back to 1900 I am guessing

These were stored in a closet for a minimal of 40 years without seeing light of day.
Some rust etc.. and I am not willing to see if loaded or not-yes, that much of a gun novice.

What do I do to find buyer legally? Who can I trust to give me an honest assessment? I am not looking at trying to squeeze top dollar and haul around to auctions etc. Just would like to move this lot and be done with it once and for all.

I am on the coast of WA.

A million thanks for reading-personal message would be great

It's not rocket science to determine gun value.

1) There is a Blue Book of Gun Values ($45)

2) A local gun shop is going to want to give you wholesale so he can re-sell a make a profit

3) Google....
Explore Gunbroker, Armslist, etc. and see what these guns are currently selling for.

4) Take some GOOD PICS with a real camera and post them up here.
The local yocals might have some good comments

5) If you want to move them fast, you are going to have to be willing to take less than retail value.
If you are patient, you will get more.

on the Winchester go to http://winchestercollector.org/forum/ the people there will help. I think it could be earlier than 21 and if a rare caliber could be up to a couple grand. also post full serial number and I bet some will give date

Thank you for the information. Will check them out.

The serial number lies directly in the range for the 1921 date of manufacture-unless for some reason the serial numbers jumped around?
When I find sites that have complete serial number ranges, is there any reason to think the number I have should not follow the guidelines of chronological dates?

Thanks again!

also if ay of your guns are from 1899 or earlier you don't need to go thru a dealer
