Sunday turned out to be a big honeydo day and one of the chores was a trip to costco. On the way out we noticed a kiosk that said free internet for costco members. We took the card and in less than 5 minutes cyber space was there for no charge free that is cheap.
So if you are a costco fan you now get to save enough to drive to your favorite river for free each month instead of paying an ISP.

Just one word of warning for free ISP users. The way they make their money is by collecting all of that personal info on the signup, then they watch what web sites you go to and create a beatiful demgraphic of your internet usage. That way you can get custom taylor made junk mail. My ISP only charges $9 a month and has vowed to never sell my info.

Ramstrong, who is your ISP? And what about e-mail, connecting, service, and busy signals. I just dropped mine and am looking for a new one that is reliable and has good service, and I am not paying 20 or 22 bucks a month. I can get it for free if need be. thanks

Sky, My ISP is local for Portland/Vancouver. They are called xprt.net and I think I've gotten about 3 busy signals in the 2 years I've been with them. You also get an email account, I don't remember how many aliases you get for free, and also I believe it's 20MB of web space. The reason they are inexpensive is they have no tech support. They exist for people that know how to setup DUN connectoids and such on their system. I'm not sure of any self serve ISP's in the Seattle/Everett area.

Be a bit wary about free internet connections. Often the connection is free, but you are still charged long distance charges for all long distance hookups...which is most of them. Friend of a friend ended up with a surprise $315 bill from his 'free' service. Check out the details!!!

Fre IP is a greathing for moderate useage. True they can gather information on the sites you visit but a little thought cleans all that up. Edit your cookiews file and use a free email service like hotmail. this allows the flexabiliy of changing ISP's and not changing your email address, checking mail from any IP connection. RE long distance charges it is simple enough to find a local number to dial in from and you would be charged LD by any ISP. I'm in the telecom business and the only draw backs are the slower down loads because of the banners and the smaller browser window due to banners.

Sure they ask you to fill out a profile page but you don't have to provide 100% accurate infomation no do you?
